    Hi team,

Last Monday, I sent my car to the mechanic because I could hear a strange noise when driving next to walls/buildings, as if something was reflected off the car.

Got the news today: turns out, both headers have small cracks in them.

My mechanic told me that the headers can probably be fixed with some welding. But that in order to remove the headers, the engine must come out.

That's an absolute bummer, as the engine came out last year to replace the timing belt.

I have read a bit around, and I found a thread related to an F355 where a forum member claimed that it was not necessary to remove the engine, in order to remove the headers.

Do you guys know whether that's the same for the 348? If that's the case, I'll try to convince my mechanic to do it without removing the engine.

Thanks a lot for your input!

    Cheers

While I have never taken headers out 348 I'm 99% sure it can be done. 348 headers never fail in my hands. I have removed the headers with engine in on 355. There is more room in the 348 so I don't see why they can't be removed in situ.

No idea on 348, but my headers were swapped on the 355 with he engine left in the car.
