Could that be the thing that holds the space saver tire pinned down?

Looks too difficult to remove in the emergency situation of a flat tire. Although, has anyone ever utilized that space saver tire? I would imagine that the car would drive very strangely, especially if was on the front. Differently sized tires along with the Citroen steering ???? You can clearly see the broken rubber bumper.

Looks like a tranny mount. The next question is ... did it come from a manual or automatic car?

Yep, it’s the transmission mount. Bolts side to side in transmission tunnel. Rubber mount bolts to back of transmission. (Manual)

I’m completing the European bumper conversion during my restoration, I also want to convert to the European style side marker lights. Can someone with a European model send me a close up photo and the measurement of the diameter of an original light? Or if someone knows the make/ model of the original light that would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

    Hi Greg,

It is not a photo one typically takes but here is a good high res one of 096 when I inspected it in Vienna 4/2020 where you can see the side marker very clearly, download it and go to full size.

Any parts chap worth his salt should recognize the part which I would think was used on many different Italian models at the time. Maybe the owner of an original Euro car can chime in.

When I converted my car in Florida I found them on Ebay from a source in Holland, this was in December 2004 so don't recall who, sorry.

When you do the conversion as you have noticed Euro cars have no sidelights at all on the rear wings/fenders -so you have to make sure you isolate their wires very well-, only the small round ones like in this photo on the front fenders/wings.

I recall my bodywork guy cutting plates and welding them in place in the holes of the big US sidelights. the"Ralf Nader pimples" then drilling the hole for the small round one. It was very satisfying to do the bumper conversion AND sidelights at the same time:)!

Thanks for the info! This was a rare case of there actually being too many options. There are a lot of different types of side lights out there. This helps to narrow down the search.

Yes, i have already welded up the huge holes where the US markers were. Looks faster already!

Out of curiosity, how is the stock cooling system on the car? Debating on wether or not to put more aggressive fans on the radiator, or are the stock ones adequate? Car was apart when i got it, so no idea if it overheats.

The basic answer is do you intend to drive it in Vegas rush hour in high summer or occasionally when the weather is not too hot?

The answer you seek will depend a lot from your clarification.

At K50 on the way back from the Tour du Jura we finished on the motorway and had a serious traffic jam at crawling speed for half an hour in very hot weather (28c) yet all K's were ok.
Throughout the 4 days we had 25-28 degrees weather sometimes 30 and zero K overheated.

    Greg,
The progress on your Kh and the interior looks great! My stock-appearing Kh has adequate cooling. Its radiator leaked so I had it recored with modern fins and tubes for more efficient cooling, while still fairly stock-appearing (black paint finish, not aluminum). Here in upstate NY we are rarely close to 100F more than a week, and I've not been stuck in traffic, but the thermostatic switches function well, the fans do kick on appropriately and keep it within "normal" temperatures.
    Cheers,

Hi Roger, this is the Japanese "back alley special" custom car which them spent some time in New Zealand before being bought by a German. He has now restored two Khamsins, 1114 and this one and also I sold him the rough project #294 out of Belgium a few months ago.

1114 was at K50, also in gold, with a very enthusiastic German owner who had bought it from the restorer. It was very nicely done (with auto to 5 speed conversion) and I gave it my organizer's favorite car award as it reminded me of my ex K:)

Here some photos of 070 throughout its life.

So in a year or two 294 will look that good!:)

I think that means 3 speed auto to 5 speed manual conversion.
