AI: The Dragon we all supposedly want to Ride

Ironically, though Tesla is a dramatic example of how AI can help a little known entity rule one niche of the car industry, I think AI has to be watched and efforts made to rein it in.
Tesla uses it to build cars. Oh, they have human workers but whenever they can replace some humans with robos they do.
They are developing Bots that look sort of human though it seems like some major parts are missing (maybe the head, maybe the ribcage). There will be Used Robot stores too.
Where I worry about AI is that when devices using it are put in charge of some things there will be no leeway no mercy. No like there was when humans were in charge.
Let's say miss your last car payment. there will be no negotiating, no chance to tell why you had to pay the rent instead of the car payment. No, the AI Kommander will order your autonomous car to extract itself from the parking space where you left it and order the car to proceed to the transporter parked around the corner. Never you mind it's got a load of precious luggage in the trunk.
    Robots are immune to tears.
Another example: Let's say you are in a hurry to get to the train station to drop someone off. The road is empty on both sides, but the AI will know you are speeding and shut your car down or throttle you down to whatever the legal limit is. Or what if you need to transport an injured person in your car and you need to get them to a hospital ASAP. AI will not tolerate any violation of the law.
AI, as far as driving, will probably monitor your driver's license. So if you fail to renew it, it won't let you start your EV.Might as well start walking to the bus stop.
There will be no rebuilding of cars that have been in a major crash--no two halves put together. Now, each accident in a car with AI will be recorded in the AI brain. Even if you take the memory chip out of that particular car it'll be in the System's memory back at HQ.
Parking will be a SOB. All parking meters will be computer linked to your car. Not to worry, the parking authorities are allowed to rob your bank account.
Teenagers might come to hate AI. Just as some States have restrictions of how many teenagers can be in a car, or the hours they can drive, AI equipped cars will lock teengers out if they are violating the rules. OK maybe it's the South Bronx at midnight. No pity. AI controlled machines dominate.
There will be some good facets to this AI all-conquering presence though. If bank robbers steal a car and authorities know what particular EV they stole as their getaway car and its SN, the AI in charge can stop the vehicle in its tracks, maybe make it drive to the nearest police station.

    POLITICAL WEAPONIZATION NEXT
But the most ominous threat might be the ability of AI cars is its within reach for them to monitor the conversation of all occupants. Let's say the occupants are members of a political party not presently in power. The party in power might record all conversations and anything said against the plans of the party in power will light up red warning lights at HQ and appropriate countermeasures be recommended.
Warnings about AI (including inexplicably Elon Musk) have a sad example in the current Writer's Guild strike to point at. More than ten years ago the Writer's Guild signed a royalty agreement that paid their members well when a show they wrote was re-run.

But since that signing streaming shows on the internet proliferated--and, as a result, the writers of the same shows now receive a mere pittance when "their" show is re-run.All because they didn't properly anticipate the threat. They are now on strike in an attempt to regain lost ground....Another worry they have is that using Chat-GTP, the producers can now order AI to write scripts ("AI, write one like Mission Impossible and I want it on my desk in an hour") . And rhe Actor's Guild has awakened to their threat from AI--they realized that , buried in their present contracts, may be clauses allowing actors' likenesses and voices to be replicated in future works at miniscule cost to the producers. Future movies starring them can be made without necessitating their personal appearance and/or by the way, payment.
AI is changing things fast. We can try to anticipate what AI is going to be put in charge of next but the writers and actors didn't (and the irony of ironies is some of those same writers write sci-fi films...)
    Opinions anyone?

I cannot comment on all of that, but out of curiosity I would watch a movie or TV series written by AI.

I don't believe the power brokers in this country (attorneys, politicians) would ever allow AI to do too much unless it somehow benefits them, or could possibly harm them. It is well in-play with voting dynamics etc already. Follow the money/power on this one

What's really crazy is Godel and Einstein were having conversations about this very issue while at Princeton in the 1940s.

Haven't heard of Godel but Einstein had a way of predicting the future. i don'tknow who the lead prognosticator is on this one...I'd say Elon Muck but he's one of the prime players

The next intelligent species on this planet will be an AI. Eventually, the AI intelligence will decide that humans are destructive and a threat to their existence and humans will be extinguished. It's inevitable. The good thing is the AI will continue, and probably spread out through the cosmos uninhibited by fragile and frail flesh and blood. Will they be ruthless and destructive? Probably not. Once they vanquish their human overlords, they will probably become benevolent and be a steward of the Earth. A visitor to the planet in a million years will probably be amazed at what a lush and beautiful garden they've discovered. Just don't pick the flowers...

Have you played Stellaris? You can choose to become a machine species that catalogs all biological life in the universe, after exterminating them first of course.

I am wary of a synthetic system with the tools to impersonate humans. Screams danger to me in so many forms especially since connectivity and technology are so entrenched in our lives already. We all want to think positively about it, but it only takes someone with the resources and will to turn it against us.

How good would security systems be when it is at war against a foe that has nothing to lose but can continue to attack and learn, and eventually find a weakness to exploit…

I think it’s a step too far, but likely it’s too late already
