Not necessarily. I've heard there are plenty of people lacking enough self-respect to buy/own and being seen wearing fake Rolex's, etc too.
Chassis number ? It's simple : How is it possible that this guy (or others) can create a 100% copy of a 250 TR (for example) from scratch, while an Allegretti (ot others) need to destroy authentic 250 GT 2+2s (for example) for the same result : https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/my-250tr-build.678764/
good question but have a look at this car. nothing original, a complete new selfmade car. how he will get this car registered? it is a brand new car without any VIN until now and for new cars there are new regulations for first registration ( crash test, emission controle, and much much more ). that is why most destroy a 250GT/E to have an old first registration. it is not a 100 % copy, it only looks at first sight as if it would be
GTO Engineering use predominately 250gte cars as the base for their revival series. The revival series is either 250TR, 250SWB or 250GTO replicas. They use cars that are financially beyond restoration. I personally would rather see these types of cars saved by being given a new life as a recreation than stripped for parts and discarded - lost forever. That would be a real crime.
Countless vintage cars have always been and are continuously being restored/saved with little or no consideration to financial feasibility. That’s what separates true enthusiasts from posers, pretenders and wannabes, etc. What are the financial “benefits” of creating fakes ? How much do fakes generally appreciate over time ?
Let’s hope for increased values over time to financially disincentivize any more Frankenstein creations . Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Restoring a 250 GT 2+2 wreck is too expensive? But building a *fake* using a 250 GT 2+2 (or 330 GT 2+2) wreck is even more expensive, isn't it? The whole point of these *fakes* is to make money.
If you’re having a replica built to make money then you’re building it for the wrong reasons. As I mentioned before what’s worse, a car gutted for spares and it being lost forever, or allowing it to be reborn as a recreation.
I’m not sure that’s really the case. Everyone is entitled to their view but I’m very sure GTO engineering are not trying to dazzle and fool people. Most I would say are proper enthusiasts Chris Evans, Chris Rea spring to mind both have owned these type of replicas. They hardly seem the sort of people who would waste their time trying to fool and dazzle and have enough money to not care what you or I think.
Absolutely disagree. After almost 50 years in the international Ferrari world I can tell you that 99% of the people who have such fakes built are unwilling to admit that their car is a replica and complete fake. Even worse when somebody with hundreds of millions of wealth could easily afford a genuine one and then buys a fake one to impress friends and visitors......... Unfortunately I know several such people in person. All have massive ego problems and need to see a doctor or their psychiatrist. Marcel Massini
You couldn't have said it better, Marcel. We might add that the list of these 250 GT/330 GT 2+2 (wrecks or not) is reaching dramatic proportions and it's time to put a stop to this destruction of Italy's heritage. On the other hand, it seems that some idiots have found another stupid activity that is likely to grow: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/electric-dino-being-built-in-la.679898/
Yes you’re totally right of course once these cars are beyond repairing and are not worth saving they should be scrapped like any other car. If they can be salvaged then yes restoration is always the better option. I see very little value in loosing the heritage completely and as long as people are honest about the cars transformation I have no issue. Chris Evans never pretended his 250TR replica was an original I was exhibited many times at Goodwood and clearly stated it was a recreation so again I see no issue.
So what is it? Are these stamped numbers fake too? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
