My recollection suggests comments of him not caring what his family does with the cars after he's gone, but then again, I haven't spent much time "following" him or his endeavors.

As for all this value speculation, I couldn't care less since I have no interest or plans to acquire or own anything like the topic vehicle.

Great news #0854 is being auctioned. Hopefully the new owner will get the car properly restored this time by Ferrari, and correct the many mistakes, lack of expertise, minimal care and knowledge of the current owner evident in his restoration.

People are talking about 0854 fetching $40M + and it beggars belief that the owner presents this Ferrari Prototype racing car with el cheapo BF Goodrich T/A Radials S speed rated up to a maximum of 112 mph.

also it says: M + S, that means mud and snow
but who will go with this car on snow ( except the st. moritz ice racing, and there you use spikes )

*The subject of an exacting nine-year restoration

What a joke! Amazing they took 9 years on this bodge job. Exacting? Not even close.

The BFGs are illustrative of the “quality and detail” of the entire restoration and car. If they can’t bother with the simplest most visible items you can imagine how well the rest of the stuff underneath/inside was addressed.

I imagine that to some people nothing he does is good. So be it. Sour grapes from a few. I give him credit, he owns some great cars, obviously cares for them and, DRIVES them. I’d say that wins.

Beg to differ. They are sufficient for street driving. Avon slicks are illegal on the road here. I admire the fact he drives it on the street. Kudos to him.

I agree, but apparently our resident “expert” on all things P cars still suffers from relentless emotional scars & sour grapes being left standing alone on the proverbial debate stage, but this certainly presents an opportunity of a lifetime to step up to the plate and show us how all that "expertise" and "knowledge" can be put to practice, not to mention all the first-hand experience to be gained for (still ongoing ?) used car sales job application résumés.

    Is that really your perception?

    That’s surely an interesting take…

Again, showing your lack of knowledge and ignorance.

Ferrari never ran these cars on slicks or Avons, only using Firestone or Dunlop treaded tyres.

Sure, but he was no pioneer in driving a P car on the street. There are a number of P car owners that did it many years before him, even an Fchatter among us that did so way before him.

never said he was first. Only the most recent. And that is a great thing. Do you street drive your P car. On race tires. Didn’t think so.

Well, in all fairness there were others, including few who appeared to harbor some unrelated (to the debate) personal vendettas against owner of the debate subject, urging their hero to go on with the endless/pointless/useless charade crusade, but I guess they just needed/wanted someone else to do their bidding, i.e. attack an individual (not the subject of the debate) they felt, for whatever reasons, deserving it.
I just didn’t/don't care enough to research their motives, but apparently some of those wounds still haven't healed that well.
And now it appears this "hero" is (desperately ?) trying to get back at his former debate opponent (who eventually gave up and walked away, essentially leaving the hero standing almost alone and fuming his unspent angst through a keyboard) by mounting a quite petty smear campaign toward another car latter is selling, but OTOH, based on his performance history in this forum, I'm not surprised.
And yes, interesting or not, but that is my perception. How does it differ from yours ?

Differs quite a lot in the sense that people should simply pay attention to what Ferrari has to say and the implied takes of many renowned experts.
