Recall Ferrari no longer sells cars in Russia. Not saying they are going to Russia, but clearly possible.

I have also seen quite a few spare parts for 812 or F8 available lately on Marketplace... It wouldnt surprise me if at least some are being stolen for parts.

Russia. Lots of money and no inventory. Agree that just getting the check isn’t the answer. They are closing out production so getting another new one is probably impossible. I would take mine back if it was stolen. Not the cars fault unlike the wife analogy. Sorry, this totally sucks.

Now I know why they used to hang horse thieves.I had a motorcycle stolen from me in 1979. A Kawasaki SR650 that I bought new and was in my carport in CA. Went out the door to go to work all hyped for the ride and...nothing. Empty car port. The cops said really no chance to get it back.

Then a day later someone in the same complex reported a motorcycle dumped in her garden. It was mine. They broke the steering lock and tried to pry the seat open. After that I used the biggest chain and lock I could carry. Basterds.

Good news -- an 812 GTS was recovered in the Ottawa area early Wednesday morning. You can thank an alert Ottawa cop who saw a tow truck loading cars into a shipping container. A 40-year-old woman is charged with possession of stolen property and conspiracy -- wonder if that arrest will lead to others!

This is so crazy. Right on my hometown the car was located. So happy for you Nick, I have been following it in the group chat.

Yes that's right, they found it!!!! Over the moon!!!!!!

A random patrol officer was driving past a rural property outside Ottawa, happened to notice a Range Rover being loaded into a seacan. He investigated and sure enough stolen. When they pulled the Range Rover out, behind it was the car. I got so lucky, unbelievable.

Got it out of the container yesterday, happy to report no apparent damages, but still having taken to detailers/dealership to go over.

For me this was the realization of a dream to be able to spec this car from new. It was a 2.5 year wait (2 years for delivery, 6 months of winter) and something I was going to keep my entire life. I was also following break-in procedure and hadn't even heard it above 4k rpm yet. Was absolutely crushed. But so happy now to have back safe and sound and definitely going to be stepping up security measures on a number of levels

Based on container, looked like going to middle east. They copied my key at some point, (had a cheap programmable 3rd party key inside), I think likely at Four Seasons Montreal valet about a week and a half earlier. Only time key was outside of my possession other then dealership and trusted ppf installer. Self park but they wouldn't let me keep the key (unlike last time with a different vehicle)

Dubai. Just don't know how they could ever plan on getting it serviced? As soon as they plug in the computer would come up stolen I'd think. Could you even service these without the Ferrari computer hookup? Unless the plan was to shift to unsuspecting buyer.

Nah more like she was assaulted, glad to have her back safe and sound! I did feel a bit weird about cleaning it though, so having detailer go over

So lucky. Good for you. Wonder why they took so long to get into the car and have the alarm go off. If simple key copy then one push and in and then start. I think they manually popped the door lock and then also spent some time with the door open so looks like they might have connected to the OBDII. I think the key copy came later.

I think you might be thinking of the one stolen in London, mine didn't have any released footage on the theft. No damage around door however

So pleased it was found. Really hate to hear of these thefts on so many levels. They have a machine that intercepts the signal from your key and can reproduce it. Probably wasn’t the hotel IMO. They wait until you use the key, intercept the signal and they’re in. Very Specialist. I think it doesn’t work on SF90 because that has auto lock (as soon as you move away car locks without a signal from you). An easy solution is to use a steering wheel lock or some simple physical device that means they have to draw attention to themselves to disarm. I think then they don’t bother because too many other easy targets. Many thefts now in London, 488, 812, any vehicles with that generation of key system.

With Porsche’s easy entry system they make this specific disclaimer - it may be easier to steal a car with the system installed. It takes seconds. I have video of this happening with one of the cars our business owns - literally shocking how quick and easy it is. Young kids given tools by the people sponsoring and paid a few quid (bucks) to do it.

So glad you got the car back. Any damage? I would not have thought these were going to Dubai. They must service them through independents that turn a blind eye. I had assumed Russia given the sanctions. I am pretty safe up in Sonoma but will have to be more careful in SF…going in the garage every night.

Given the sanctions I believe there is no way to ship directly to Russia. Going to the Middle East actually means that ending up in Russia is very likely since there are no travel restrictions between the two countries.

What an amazing outcome . I’d find that patrol officer that caught them and do something over the top to thank him/her.

    One bad thing :

The "order" is still open now.

So, all GTS owners, be aware of your car !

Wow what a wild story! And apparently a good reason never to give anyone your key.

I know the Ottawa area well so I can kind of picture this scenario.

Had detailers go over, no damage :)

Small scuff in bumper ppf, but buffed out, and small chip in one of the wheel finishes, getting touched up

Dealership going over next week for mechanical inspection
