ummm .... because that's only an illustration and it was never built? (according to wiki ;) )
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sikorsky_XV-2

"The XV-2 prototype was assigned the s/n 53-4403, but the project was cancelled before construction could begin."

    >>> With only a single main rotor and no tail rotor, how did they plan on controlling rotation torque?

Possibly bleed air for reaction control. Have not looked at the design in detail.

According to the Wikipedia entry, "a tip-jet arrangement powered the rotor".

The DI's made us shave in basic and there wasn't anything to shave until I was about 19.5 yers old. Old saying, "Smear some cream on his face and let the cat lick it off."

Greg Boyington was called Pappy when he was 32.

My Uncle left the Navy after the war at 25 I think because "These new jets coming along are for the Kids"

Even today a lot of stairs are used, even on wide-bodies. 2nd time on a 747, returning from HI (1st was flying to HI), landed at ORD and the bridge had frozen (-8degF). Had to walk down the stairs and across the tarmac to the terminal. Dec 75

Unfortunately, the aircraft was destroyed in a fatal crash going between shows, but Franklin was not flying the airplane at the time.

Best quality airborne photo of the best looking 4 engined propliner aircraft IMO. To bad they didn't go into production. One is still sitting on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Florida.
