Thanks Vegas Horse but fortunately I'm not married yet, I'm a college student... Stop being a prick man, I love the 348 but it's only a few 'k' more than a 3.0L Z3, if I didn't get the Subaru for college, insurance would be one of the only real factors holding me back from getting one-- plus, I bet the Z3 is faster ... Great job making friends on this site, your presence is much appreciated...
KENNY, U MUST BE IN UR 6TH YEAR AT COMMUNITY COLLEG IF U THINK U CAN BUY A 348 FOR $25K, WHICH INCIDENTALLY IS WHAT UR 02 Z3 IS WORTH NUMBNUTZ. THE REFERENCE TO UR WIFE WAS NOT TO IMPLY UR MARRIED BUT TO POLITELY SAY UR BEEMER IS A CHICK' CAR, DID U TRADE IN A RED CAMARO AS THE DOWN PAYMENT FOR IT? GET A CLUE FRAT BOY! Remember James Bond? Not the fey movie James Bond, nor the fun to watch Sean Connery James Bond. I'm talking about the Ian Fleming BOOK James Bond. He lived in a Regency house on a plane treed square in Chelsea or Knightsbridge and he parked his Supercharged 4 1/2 liter Bentley (later an R-Type Continental drophead) in the street and expected it to be his "locomotive", that is to start on the button and be able to follow whatever villain (Hugo Drax in his Mercedes 300 being the favorite) wherever needed. Jesus. Of course you can park in the rain. It's a CAR.
Vegas, didn't realize you were pompous also, just thought you were an ass, guess you're both... I, unlike you, don't buy cars for status or to impress others, the 3.0l is a solid semi-practical sports roadster that could probably outperform the 348 (close at least) and run for a fraction of its costs. And if you really care I'm a Presidential Scholar who made the Deans List at the University of Albany (going into sophmore year)...
No way! Rickyn: I think Ferraris can look their best in the rain. Leave it outside this once, and enjoy.
Windshield wipers are overrated. Depending on the angle of your windscreen, you may have to do considerably more than 60mph to get the water to stream over...
we used to joke in Porsche land about 4 sale ads that said [sic]: "never driven in rain, never smoked in, etc" and create our own ads: "driven hard with respect, always tits maintained, smoked in, serious cocktails imbibed in, driven in all conditions, f.cked in, etc" i suspect that almost everyone here ragging this guy NEVER smokes Cubans in your F's, do you????. carry the Labrador in it?? etc etc. we each draw the line between CAR and jewelry in our own way.
Kenny If you read his profile you will see he is an attorney, that should have clued you in that he would be both an ass and pompous
KENNY, WHO'S TRYING TO "IMPRESS OTHERS" BY CLAIMING THIER 02 Z3 CAN OUT PERFORM A 348? OR BY MISREPRESENTING THE VALUE OF THAT SAME CAR. HIGH RETAIL ON UR BIMMER IS 25K TRADE IN VALUE IS 20K ! WITH 100 LESS HORSEPOWER AND 100 LESS FOOTPOUNDS OF TOURQE HOW EXACTLY WOULD UR CAR OUT PERFORM THE 348? YOU MIGHT MATCH UP BETTER WITH A PORSCHE BOXTER, ANOTHER CHICK'S CAR, WHICH LIKE UR BIMMER HAS TWO CHIPMUNKS CHASING A CHESTNUT AS A MOTOR. IT FIGURES U ATTEND A STATE PUBLIC SCHOOL WHATS UR MAJOR... REMEDIAL BASKET WEAVING? VEGAS HORSE RIDES ON....
THANX FOR THE COMPLIMENT.... LIKE URSELF MOST DISLIKE ATTYS TILL THEY NEED ONE...SUCH SMACKS OF HYPOCHRISY.. "THE WORLD ACCORDING TO THJE VEGAS HORSE"
Vegas, get a ****ing life dude, you're arguing with a 19 year old who doesn't have a steady stream of income, does it make you feel tough? Compensating for something? Must've been picked on as a kid or something, jeez.... BTW, I intend on becoming a lawyer and Albany Law is a very honorable school...
Not a problem whatsoever....does your 355's engine get wet during a car wash? You wont have any problems, your cars not a sugar cube!!
KENNY UR THE ONE COMPENSATING....U MAKE BOASTS MISRERESENTATIONS AND HURL INSULTS, AND WHEN CONFRONTED WITH THE FACTS U BECOME JUST A POOR LITTLE 19 YR OLD BOY W/ NO INCOME......PLEASE. DON'T WASTE UR MONEY ON LAWSCHOOL TUITION SINCE U LACK THE ESSENTIAL ADVOCAY SKILL OF BEING ABLE TO SUPPORT YOUR POSITIONS WITH FACTUAL ARGUMENTS....MALE NURSING MIGHT BE A MORE SUITABLE FIELD 4 U. GOOD LUCK TO U ANYWAY. VEGAS HORSE SIGNING OFF.......
Use Rain-X. Follow the directions TO THE LETTER. You'll be astounded how the water jumps off your windshield even at 1 MPH. Ken
I smoke Macanudos in mine, in the rain...and if she wants to ride with me on my side of the console, no complaints..... WHAT THE HECK ARE YA"LL TALKING ABOUT??????? Rain X is definately worth the money, but I was disappointed with some of the wipers recently...They do not fully sweep the pattern.... I've been told that myself and Racehorse Haynes are the only two Ferrari owners in Houston that leave their cars out in the rain..... I shot a cat off the top of mine this morning....maybe I need that evil sunroof.....
Most of you might think this is a dumb question, but its actually a good one, for those of you that dont own a f355, its not recommended to leave it out is the rain, water comes in the engine bay and water goes in the spark plug compartment resulting on your car running really bad until it dries.... doest happen while driving in the rain since wind and the heat of the engine will act as deterrent for the water
From the factory, the car came with gaskets on the spark plug covers to prevent water getting in there. There are also supposed to be a “squishy” gasket seal where the plugs exit the side of the head. Over the years, these things may have gone missing on some cars, if you have the correct seals in good condition then rain water won’t really get in there. Although, I wouldn’t pressure wash the engine bay.
I don't think the early 2.7's got those end gaskets, engine unit 38150 and later had different spark plug covers... But not much water should get in there unless you're parked in a typhoon. No different than washing your car tbh, water is going to get in the engine bay, shouldn't be a big deal.
Mine's a Sept '94 and doesn't have them - has the earlier style plug covers. Changeover for a few early 355 things (like moving to a 2 piece undertray, which mine has) seemed to happen in Sept of '94...I haven't tried to fit the later style plug end gasket but the wires are an interference fit by themselves so unless it's extremely squishy and thin it wouldn't fit. Mine was apparently part of the early 355 engine assembly recall as well, so maybe they made the changeover right after that.
I drove for 2 days: a) in 2" per hour of heavy continuous rain b) 1,200 miles c) on slick tires. Except for the adrenaline rush of the slick tires, nothing happened in the engine bay.
