355 Switch modification.

Are there any Ferrari switches which latch in two positions? Is your F50 switch momentary or does it latch?

Is your lifting system designed to have a 3 position/latching switch?

 

For clarity: I mean "latch in two positions away from centre".

Dave from StickyRx thinks the F5o switch is most likely like a window or roof switch, but he doesn't have one at hand at the moment to confirm.

There are a few notes written on the diagram which may help you understand the operation.

 

The roof switch wiring is slightly strange. With the switch in the neutral position, for some unknown reason, power is sent to the roof ECU on pin 1. When the switch is activated (up/down, the roof ECU receives an earth on pins 1 or 2. I don't know if this voltage will be a concern when using a roof type switch for the door lock/unlock system.

The roof switch diagram (right side) shows the switch socket numbering (not the switch pin numbering). i.e. looking at the metal contact side (not the wire side). Reverse the image to show the switch numbering.

Internally, they should be the same as the roof switches. They are drawn the same in the wiring diagrams.

Slightly different external wiring. I don't know why there is a signal loop through both switches when the switches are not used.

Just to clarify, the graphic of the plug shows the face of the connector with the wires on it, not the switch.

With the switch removed, do you get 12 volts between either of the outer sockets of the connector (i.e. sockets 3 & 5) and connector socket 4? i.e. with the ignition turned on? i.e. with a voltmeter, do you get 12 volts across 3 & 4 (and across 5 and 4?). This is for measurement purposes only, not for normal switch function. The green/white wires are the power wires. Grounds on Ferraris are almost always black. You may get a permanent roof buzzing sound with the switch disconnected (don't panic).

As I understand it, power goes to switch pins 3 and 5 on the green/white wires from the AC System fuse. With the switch not activated, this power goes through the switch contacts to the ECU on the green/yellow wire and the purple wire.

With the switch not hooked up or moved away from the centre position, is there continuity between your switch pins 2 & 5 (and between 1 & 3?). Or are you getting continuity between switch pins 2 & 4 (and 1 & 4)?

 

I just realised that parts of the OEM graphics can be quite confusing.

It's confusing because power is sent to the ECU on both B03 and B06 when the switch is not moved. I assume this is some kind of safety or self checking feature. When the switch is activated, the power on one pin is removed and replaced with an earth.

I probably should have removed the backlighting LED for clarity. Just ignore it

I see what you mean. Does the voltage go straight to some kind of lift ECU or to relays?
