I completely agree with you. Which is sad. We just want simple performance cars which can be daily drivers and joy to drive.

That would make it a porker. The new hypercar needs to be 1300 kg tops. And I'm talking fully loaded with fuel and other fluids.

So, you basically want a Cayman...

No chance. Even the Valkyrie is more than 1300 and that one is as extreme/compromised as they get. It just needs to have the required performance and driving feeling, regardless of the weight figure.

agreed, it's just not going to happen, I think 1,500hp and 1,800kg or so would be about right to be competitive

These cars are anything but simple. There are mechanically simple Ferraris out there for you to buy right now, and many of them are even “reasonable” money.

With Icona being a series to allow the designers a greater degree of freedom, and (apparently, so far) to keep the romance of NA V12 alive, I would imagine the next Ferrari Hypercar to focus more on performance and setting the tone for the next era. I can’t imagine it being in the same weight league as SF90.

I would think more like 1500 kg, given that the SF90 is 1700+ at the curb.

fair, I suppose it's just dependent on how much extra weight they'll pile on for the extra hp needed - a bigger battery for a much more powerful hybrid system
obviously just speculation as I've no idea what the figures will be

It would be a miracle even 1200hp, no way 1500

I think if they are keeping it sub 1200 then they'll be focusing on extreme track performance as it's distingushing character in order to stay relevent

It will be an incremental increase in HP. They have a plan for the future and will keep something in reserve for what comes next. Also, when you push the engine HP too high you really shorten the time to rebuild which drives up the cost. On these ICE with over a 1000 hp, how long before you need to spend $100k on an engine refresh, 5000 km?

I wonder if Ferrari can achieve the 1:1 ratio or similar with the new halo like Koenigsegg did 8-10 years ago? I mean they must reveal something that needs to be a bit astounding since there are numerous "hypercars" now.

Every new Ferrari hypercar since the F50 has seen a huge jump in performance. No reason to believe otherwise for the new one, when the "normal range" has already exceeded 1000 HP.
Cosworth say that the Valkyrie's engine will need a rebuild at aroung 100,000 km. The gearbox needs one every 50,000 km though.

The 1990s called and want their cars back... :D

even if it was 6,000 miles a rebuild for ferrari hypercar I don't think it'd be a huge issue as they tend to do around 6,000 miles every decade on average (looking at cars that are for sale atm)

yep, the enzo to la ferrari was a 44% increase in power - if the increase was the same then we're looking at 1370hp

I just don’t think we will see that much increase. The FXXK EVO requires an engine refresh at 5000 km, though it is a track car and probably runs at full throttle ~40% of the time and a street car doesn’t do that unless you spend your time on the autobahn in Germany. The increase in the SF90 XX was incremental. I hope I am wrong, but I don’t think it will have more than 1100 hp, that would be +150 hp? They are, I believe, going to announce two cars at the World Finals in October, one will be the 296 Challenge which is no secret, the other is ___________? I think or thought the LaF replacement will be in the March or spring of 2024, one year later than the 10 year anniversary.

What makes them so heavy ?!??
Let's say the engine is a V12, that weighs 250 kg tops.
Add another 100 for the gearbox, 150 for the carbon tub, 50 for the wheels and another 100 for the wiring.
Where does the extra weight come from ???

You are forgetting half of the car. Subframes, crash structures, suspension, steering, brakes, hydraulics, ancillaries (pumps, etc), bodywork, active aero, floor/under-body, internal fittings, safety, antipollution and comfort equipment, glasshouse and of course the batteries and motors of the hybrid system. I am sure I am forgetting some things too...

The Koenigsegg cars are amazing but alot of the figures are done using non pump gas which increase the Hp alot
Here's just one example: The Regera is rated at 820 kW (1,100 hp; 1,115 PS) at 7,800 rpm and 1,280 N⋅m (944 lb⋅ft) of torque at 4,100 rpm on 95 octane RON gasoline. A flex fuel sensor is installed in the fuel tank to detect E85 biofuel, which increases the power output to 1,100 kW (1,500 hp).

i will add one very important thing.
The cars nowdays are much bigger(some has to do with regulations, ofcourse) than what they use to be 20 years ago.
And that some manufacturers, Ferrari included, are not paying to much attention on weight as they used to.
Not saying the cars aren't better, they are.
Just their focuse is somewhere else, dynamics, safety, brakes, comfort( sometimes exaggerated, like automated rear doors)
