What happened mate? Always keen to build up my knowledge of breakdowns so whenever it happens I have vague idea of what it might be !
Trip to the Sequoias. Close to 600 miles total driven. 17mpg on the way there cruising at 80 Stopped to help someone with a flat and had a chance to use my pump for the first time. Broke the leather strap immediately. Also realized I don’t have a cigarette lighter socket in case I needed it for myself. Oh, and realized I miss cruise control. Was that an option on these? Had these personalized and refinished. Really pleased. Love all the yellow details on a red car! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Awesome pics! Speaking of broken straps, after my first mountain drive in my scud, I heard a bunch of clunking in the frunk. 3 of the straps holding the tool kit and pump had ripped. I still need to replace them.
As a bit of "gee-whiz" info for anyone needing leather hold-down replacements, I strongly urge you to take a hint from Jay Leno and find a bridle maker nearby. Anyone who makes horse tack, really. Give them the dimensions (or ideally, the entire pieces, broken or otherwise). They'll make you an unbelievably solid set of strapping for a tiny fraction of the price of replacement parts from Ferrari. Jay's 1928 Type 37A and his Type 51 both have bonnet hold-downs from a local bridle-maker rather than from Bugatti and i believe he spent about $70 instead of several thousand. Obviously this advice doesn't apply to those intent on showing at a concours.
Yep that’s a job on my list. My 360 had broken straps and my 430 is exactly the same. The Hong Kong humidity doesn’t help. The other thing is I believe the straps aren’t actually leather (at least on the 360 they were some kind of synthetic crap) so it would be an upgrade if anything. On topic, here’s a pic of my 430 and a bunch of worn out suspension bits I had replaced. Now it turns in like a Ferrari should. Man I miss my 360. Had a challenge grille and the starfish rims (which I still think are the best rims for a 360) as well.
Dublin, Ireland ? Was a bit thrown by the left hand drive but the background looks like Ireland for sure. Irishman here with a 430 spider (but living abroad). Scud or 16M is my dream car. What a first Ferrari. Can only imagine how good a scud is going to be on those backroads. Enjoy the car.
I agree, the star fish rims fit the 360 lines the best. I have the modular rims which I know were more expensive but they don’t flow right with the car in my opinion.
Super car Saturday at Hard Rock Hollywood Florida! Lots of high end Porsches, Mclarens, Lambos and a few Ferraris including an Enzo! First time I’ve had the 430 out in public since buying it and detailing it and was amazed at the attention it got compared to the F cars around me as it filled up there was also a couple f8’s and 488’s but seemed the 430 got more love. Yay so far loving this car, my wife does and most amazingly my daughter does. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's a 2007 LX80, I have a pair of them. Just finished servicing the one in frame. Aircooled so she's easy to wrench on.
Starting my projects I’ve been procrastinating doing: - Exhaust Manifolds (Tubi - expect to deliver on Wednesday) - Valve Cover Gaskets - Transmission Mount Bushing - CV Axle Heat Shield Repairs - Gearbox Vent Valve - Repainting a couple items It’s too hot to work in the garage during the afternoon so it’s going to be slow going and working in the mornings.
