Finally got my bella berlinetta F355 after almost a two year wait for US import eligibility
Tires are on top of my list and wanted to ask the brethren how they feel about these alternate set ups of the MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 4S

I would prefer to keep original sizes and use the spacers.

I see I wouldn’t think so as the oversized tire solution would add 5mm in width both on the inner and outer walls. So I0mm wider overall but only 5mm increase in “poke” of that makes any sense. The spacers add purely to “poke”

    Since
Since the proposed increase is 20mm from stock it would actually be 10mm either side so just 10mm to "poke"

My reading comprehension is exactly where that late afternoon slump would have anticipated.

    Correction we’ll received!

The important dimensions of the stock tires are::

225/40ZR18 have 8.86" footprint on the road and are 25.09" rolling diameter
265/40ZR18 have 10.43" footprint on the road and are 26.35" rolling diameter
The footprint ratio is 1.18× and the height difference is 1.26"

The proposed tires important dimensions are::

235/40ZR18 have 9.25" footprint on the road and are 25.40" rolling diameter
285/40ZR18 have 11.22" footprint on the road and are 29.98" rolling diameter
The footprint ratio is 1.21× and the height difference is 1.57"

You will pick up a bit of understeer from the footprint ratio (which can be adjusted with air pressure)
You will pick up significant oversteer from the height of the rear tires, and you should lower the rear to reclaim the roll axis inclination the car wants.

What penalties aside from unsprung mass are incurred by deploying spacers?

Are you planning to mount the larger rubber on the stock rims? Also curious with goals.

If cosmetic, make sure you aren't increasing the wheel diameter AND adding spacers. You'll likely have issues with hard steering angles where the rubber scrapes on the front and back of the wheel well liners for the front wheels. The rears you can get away with if you set your spring heights properly and have longer bump stops.
