Look at track cars, and many race cars(short of factory teams) they all run steels. The braking difference if any is minimal. The steels last just fine and are a fraction to replace. In a hard use environment brake rotors are a consumable and arguably cermaics more fragile last not as long and 5x the cost to replace..

A better question is what benefits do ceramics confer. If youre an F1 team there is some unsprung weight benefit and the cost issue is moot, thats pretty much it, they can also handle more temp, but at those temps the calipers would and pads be melting on pretty much anything short of a f1 car..
In terrms of a street car there is zero functional difference in ability to brake, and the weight difference is so minimal its moot in terms of road car handling. The benefit seems to be no brake dist or minimal brake dust and ability to pose that you have "F1" brakes, plus manufactuers make a premium on them.

Now not all steel rotors are equal, and to me any car in 2023 that comes with drilled steel rotors is bling more than serious. thats because while drilled rotors were cool in the 70s the reality is as the rotor heats and contracts those holes do at different rates and you get cracks which propogate, at elast at a track environment. Great steel rotors amongst other attributes will be solid surface, grooved or j hook dependig on whether its endurance or other events. they will also be vented handed and floating. Drilled rotors work just fine on road.

The guys I know who get a proche gt3 with ceramics remove the rotors for resale and run steels for track. there is a poster here who tracked a458 he removed his cermaics and ran steels.

in short there is a very narrow budget unlimited case for ceramics at the very top tier of racing ie F1. Otherwise its just wasted $ on something considered a consumable. Even Gt2 race classes seem to run steels, and those are cars seriously quick by any standard.

However such is the world in which we live that show items may help resale of a car.

if i were ordering one it def would not have ceramics.

There is a reason why see serious manufacturers like porche who make actual trackable cars offer the choice on Gt3 and Gt4rs between ceramics or steel, serious track guys dont run ceramics, unless the car came that way, in which case theyll run them till worn and replace with steels or remove them for resale.

Basicaly youre down to bling, maybe resale, and brake dust.

I’m considering one of these. I presented a deal to Maser Newport Beach. We’ll see what happens but I won’t be budging hardly at all since I’m in a good position with what I have.

Beautiful example Rob but I’m funding the purchase with a couple of trades.

There's an IG post showing that Maserati is unveiling a new version of something presumed to be a racy version of the MC20 this week at Pebble.

The one at NB Maser sold so I’m keeping tabs on one in SLC. A bit high on price for what I want to pay so we’ll see what happens with the market.

The problem is, would you rather have the MC or a 458 spider? I'm thinking -- the 458 spider.

Me too. But if anyone is looking at the 458 spider that is at Ferrari Newport Beach, it has serious paint issues. Avoid.

$39k for exterior carbon fiber will get the MSRP up fast! I am not a big CF fan (I have none on my Cielo which is supposed to be at the dealer next week - fingers crossed). Has almost no resale value (I have bought 2 - 458s loaded with Carbon Fiber and hardly paid any premium versus cars without it. Looks good but not worth it to me.

There's nothing sensible about buying any cars like this. Of course once well equipped Suburbans reached $100K everything and anything is nuts!
