I was disappointed in it from the start. But once Magnum kissed Higgins I refused to even consider watching another episode
I bought all the episodes of the rebooted Magnum on iTunes. I did not like it much at the beginning but then it grew up quickly on me. The characters are well developed, they are loyal, hardworking and honest, you want to be friends with them. Most of the plots are good. The scenery is exceptional. And this red car… The only negative is that Higgins should add pounds. Nice face and smile, but she has no flesh, no curves, just flat with bones (not asking for a lot of pounds but at least enough that she can look better IMHO).
My impression was it seemed every episode was basically the same. I grew up with the Rockford Files and the original Magnum. The story lines watching them get creative trying to hunt someone down was entertaining and creative. The new Magnum was just open a laptop and there he is (or just was), follow them with TC miraculously just above the perp at the exact same moment as a matter of phenomenal coincidence, then a foot chase scene from rooftop to yard to rooftop like you see in a contemporary Bond film. Lather rinse repeat.
Actually that part was too much indeed. Too easy, too fast, and how can she still be connected thru MI6 without them knowing? But the overall vibe from every episode was entertaining.
It was a travelogue for Hawaii with a cute red car, exactly what the advisor we’re asking for. Hollywood has used California as a selling point for years.
did you ever see any babes in bakinis in the reboot. never! original…… Image Unavailable, Please Login
I finally finished watching all the episodes. I would have like to see more episodes but at least the final one was good (we know where they stand and how they are going to keep living their lives). It took me several episodes to like the series but then it grew on me (characters, plots, …).
i believe the question of who was Robin was left open but i dont believe it was Higgins. too many phone conversations with Higgie baby and Robin in different locations.
It was left open in the finale, but there are many instances in earlier episodes that made it evident that Robin Masters was not Higgins.
I haven't watched the finale since it originally aired so this could be the Mandela effect.. if I remember correctly the implication was that Robin Masters was not Higgins, but the Robin Masters books were actually written by Higgins and his friend Robin put his name on the novels because Higgins didn't want the attention. Magnum apparently knew this for a while after reading portions of Higgins memoirs and the style of writing.
They did infer that in the ending episodes however it doesn’t really fly because in an earlier episode they showed Robin (or you heard him anyways) flying in his personal plane and he was dictating a book he was writing. They also did the same thing with him in the back seat of his Rolls. Orson Wells played Robin’s character. You do have to keep in mind that this was the eighties and attention to details of what happened in previous episodes wasn’t always taken into consideration while making future episodes.
I have said this a million times. It was a clever idea and plot twist but it was also CLEARLY an afterthought much later in the series based on the writing in the beginning. The episode Italian Ice is an example that Higgins was never intended to be Masters early in the series by the writers.
I still watch the original whenever I happen to catch it on CoziTV. Watched a few episodes of the reboot. Terrible. Couldn’t continue. Godson gave me this a couple of years ago. If I could only use it here in Oregon… Image Unavailable, Please Login Saw this patch on eBay a few weeks ago. It’s now on my range bag. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I watch the original Magnum every day at 3 p.m. Pacific. They show two episodes every day. It is on GET TV.
