I want to close or at least not leave this thread open ended. In the end this wasn’t a total failure, but going to have to leave this as a plausible Alternative that needs work, but not a simple solution. I figure it’s better to have the info out there and people can craft their own solutions.

The Corteco Accumulator functions just fine as a replacement. It’s the mounting bracket that needs modification.

I had originally drilled new holes that matched the stock Ferrari/BMW part. After it was all done the bracket was still about 1/2” taller than stock, this proved to be too much for fitment, and the rear mount as well was not in the correct place. What I had hoped would be my finished product...

What The installer needed to do was further modify the front bracket into a 2 piece design to bring the height down.

A Similar fix was done to the rear mounting point.

And mounted up on his car...

The new reducer is a proper fit for both the accumulator and the hose. I ordered a pair from this company

Or search the following part for vendors elsewhere in the world… M16x1.5 Metric Male x M12x1.5 Metric Male

I used a different Ferrari washer than is indicated in the diagrams. I found part 11270160 to be a better fit at the Reducer/accumulator junction. It’s a common part used elsewhere on the car.

He gave an excellent blueprint of his measurements needed to make the changes. Before he came up with the 2 piece bracket design, We discussed possibly welding a pair of washers to the bracket as the mounting points as well. I think it could also work that way too.

So while this wasn’t a complete success, Its better than simply complaining about NLA parts

I still think there is a solution to eventually offer.

If an to email Corteco will do anything as it seems like such a small change to a part still in some production would benefit the both 456 owners and on a bigger scale, BMW owners the world over.

Hello, thank you for the great post. I have a 2001 456mgtA that I’m currently in the process of sorting. Would you by chance have the part number for the Corteco accumulators you used? thank you!
