It does improve the shifting on them all including auto mode. I can also make auto more refined and smoother, then make race more aggressive by giving them each their own unique setups.

I'm sure this is possible, i did this on the 360 adding a soft dampers mode button independent of race mode setting.

What sort of costs are we talking for these upgrades? New to 612 ownership in uk.

Interesting; I wonder if anyone has upgraded the intakes on our 575 in a similar manner. I need to sit down with the Parts manuals.

The MAF is Bosch #0280218084. This unit is also used in the Maserati Quattroporte, which are now filling up the breaker yards, with the MAFs available for $30-$40 on Ebay. The intake elbows are surprisingly cheap from Eurospares. The 599 airboxes are hard to come by. I paid Eurospares a few hundred for a used one, and about $500 for the other side to an Ebay seller. The 599 air filters are about $200 from Eurospares.

Affirmative, quite a bit more involved for a 575M than a late 612. About the same effort as for an early one.

Very interesting. Has anyone done the swap? If the parts indeed cross over on the 575, I’ll add it to my list of projects.

Hard part is finding the 599 airboxes or modifying the F133 ones.

The airboxes are not too bad to source compared to our 575, honestly.

The bigger issue is the intake design is very different; both the 612 and 599 share the “bottom in” design, while the 575 has a “bottom side” design. I have not looked closely at the Mount points either. IF the top of the airboxes swap over that would be a bypass method but as is, not sure if feasibility without notable custom fabrication.
However given the 575 and 599 have different PN; not sure that’s true either

Confirmed the mounting points are also quite different. Again you see the different intake design alluded to above more clearly below. Preliminarily, it appears the boxes wont swap over without lots of custom fab work (assuming again you can't just swap the tops of the boxes of course; but my limited data suggests that may not be feasible. Someone who has both handy would need to confirm. Alternatively if someone can give me sizes of the R sided intake on a 599 we can see how it compares to the R side 575 for a closer check)

Curious where the OP ended up with this? I am pretty close to pulling the trigger on a 612 and this will likely be the first mod. Has there been any testing or dyno results showing anything significant?

No dyno results I’m afraid- just never got organised enough. 100% something I must do over the winter.

Seat if the pants testing from more than one 612 owner advocates it as the fastest 612 they’ve been in.

Something I find interesting is the cost of the 599 MAF swap into a 612 is only a couple hundred more than I used to pay to switch a factory 2-barrel carb on a '60s American V8 for a Holley 4-bbl and Edelbrock intake. The horsepower gain on a 5.7 liter Chevy or 5.8 liter Ford V8 was about 25-30, probably about what the 599 MAF does for the 612. 30 brand new Ferrari horses are not supposed to be this cheap!

I have just bought a 612 to add to the stable alongside my 360 and have been scouring this and will try to take this on.
The challenge I have unknowingly created for myself is that mine still has the early shape airbox in it.

I can see that the mounting tabs etc are obviously different, but wondered if anyone else has looked at this and managed to make this airbox upgrade work going from the earlier airbox to a 599 with MAF etc

I suspect that I will just give it a go, but if anyone turns around and says 'hell no, it won't work' then I will hold fire.

Mine had earlier style metal air boxes, but it’s works all the same. Straight bolt in.

    Awesome - thanks - I'm in.

I will pick up some parts and then have a chat with @360trev to see what's the best approach when it comes to ECU flashing

So for an early 612 (06), I'd need air boxes, filters, MAF housingredients and sensors and someone to flash the ECU.

    Am I missing anything?

Also need the two 90deg elbows, and x4 band clamps. The elbows are amazingly cheap though.

Was there any additional work on this? would love to know how it evolved, ECU, TCU, Headers etc....
How does TCU tune feel? can it be driven in Auto mainly?
    Thanks
