I have been doing some reading about the use of sodium bicarbonate and sports nutrition. About three weeks ago I started dosing .3 grams per kilo of body weight just to see if claims of recovery were a benefit. I have been diluting in a half liter of water the sb 60-90 minutes before workout. I do a lot of hard core intervals on my bike to give a reference for workouts. After this trial so far I have noticed a significant recovery between intervals thus allowing more effort limiting fatigue along with recovery from day to day. Again, I work out hard which recovery would take longer. Wondering if anyone has heard of this type of supplementation?
I use food grade sodium bicarbonate Which has not yielded any side effects but I am careful to not go over .3 grams. one other side benefit is I used to have leg cramps during the night. Since using sb those have disappeared (guessing due to more minerals infused into the muscles)
I enjoy sodium bicarbonate in my pancakes every morning! Usually only go with about .1g/kg though, I think .3g would make them taste to tangy.
One more week in and my recovery has never been better and I am riding harder than I have in years. Placebo? Hmmm Don’t think so but doesn’t matter as the effect has been extremely positive
Actually the use as Sodium Bicarbonate was developed by the nazis to have their soldiers perform better. Only drawback they found that if you use the proper dosage; which is indeed tens of grams per day you can get diarea. It has been proven to work, however the majority of users get stomach issues. If you don't feel free to keep on using it. Creatine has similar properties (minus the stomach issues)
Yes, for me one small pinch in a liter of water is plenty. Is a buffer to neutralize acids. The results come from blood testing, not guessing, not mass consumption.
