I am guessing that BOCHT means corner in Dutch. And some corners are named after some famous Dutch racing personalities (drivers Rob Slotemaker, Arie Lyendyk), the man who designed the circuit (Hugenholtz), a tyre manufacturer (Kumho, probably a sponsor). But I haven't a clue about Tarzan !!
Sainz is definitely maturing and is learning how to manage his tires for longer stints. He's also been pulling off some awesome passes this year. Way too many people who only support Leclerc, give Sainz crap, but we've seen this year the latter is on par with the former in race craft.
I've constantly been giving Charles the benefit of the doubt. But starting 9th yesterday, you just KNEW he wasn't going to get out of the early stages without damage of some kind, regardless of conditions.
I think he definitely benefits from the engrained thought that he's a really really great driver. I think we all just sort of accepted that as a foregone conclusion. However, if you really look at this races... he's a win it or bin it type of driver. Whether it's hitting the wall at Baku or running through the gravel here and trashing his car... he just doesn't seem to have the "it" factor that I think myself and a lot of us assumed he had. Perez and others seem to suffer that same sort of chaotic race to race inconsistency whereas true top tier drivers don't seem to make stupid mistakes and just run it in race after race after race. I mean look at Max or Lewis... forget the cars for a moment and just look at their general race to race driving performance. They both rarely make mistakes. As much as I'd like to see Lewis mess up now and then... he's just an utterly great driver who just doesn't make mistakes. That's why Max is where he is... that's why all the "greats" are where they are. they all just drive mistake free. Charles... not so much. He's an emotional hot head. You never know what you're gonna get with him.
Agree with everything you said. As I said before I’m tired waiting a first corner crash or quali crash concerning Charles. Yes, some magic quali laps before but far from enough to consider him as a potential champion.
That may be the problem, they need two great drivers with great capabilities in order to develop the car and help the engineers.
Well, the fact is that his name was not mentioned pretty much for the whole race, means that he didn't crash. That is good, ain't?
2nd was the best he could achieve without errors. In my opinion there were two of his own, though his speeding was marginal due to aqua planning, but still an costly error and the third from the team with the less than convincing message that there was more rain coming that forced him to protect more his intermediates. Otherwise he could have pushed much more. From the sidelines, as spectators, it is hard to follow to every single detail between team mates, but my point is, did Verstappen get the message that there was more rain? We didn't hear that. Was he pushing his tires? Maybe not abusing them, but he was not "saving" them. If that is the case, isn't Checo's engineer checking over his shoulder that Verstappen is doing much faster laps without worrying about incoming rain? I mean, from the driver point of view, they don't have the full picture.
Zandvoort F1 pits to be extended by six garages for 2024 The Zandvoort circuit is set to commence work on an extension of the pitlane that will add six extra garages in time for next year’s Formula 1 Dutch GP.
I would say Gilles with Jean Alesi rolled into one. The guy is clearly devoted to Ferrari. Every time you see him outside of F1 track situations he's genuinely charming, has time for the fans and whatnot. He drove to Zandvoort in a Ferrari due to an ear infection, of course in a Ferrari. I read over the weekend that in the week his dad died, he lied to him on his deathbed saying he's signed a deal with Ferrari to drive for them in F1. Nothing was done yet but he knew it would make his dad so happy. I just hope he gets rewarded with a Ferrari Championship at some point. It'll be a very, very popular one for sure.
Well, technically, he'll be 26 and a couple of weeks the earliest he can match prost total wins tally...
