Yes I think the most we can realistically hope for is a podium for one of the Ferraris.

I think Monza was probably not the place to enforce a new rule against Ferrari on the day they manage a pole.

But that leniency creates a precedent that could be invoked by other parties later on.

It will take an act of God for a Ferrari to win tomorrow.

I would say at other tracks yes, but this track, Ferrari is a legit contender.

Max has to make a mistake at some point, right? Let it be here.

IF they pull it off, it will be a tifosi-gasm of biblical proportions....not to mention Maranello with endless parties and church bells ringing.

    They are a radical bunch......but that's expected.

    Via Autosport:

He said that drivers had been told that the need to keep below the lap time delta would not take precedent over the need for them to make sure they gave way to rivals coming through on flying laps.

For both Sainz and Leclerc, it was giving way to faster cars that meant they slowed down and went over the maximum lap time.

Speaking to Sky Sports about what happened, Vasseur said: “It was by regulation. You are allowed to exceed if you slow down to let someone go. And it's what's happened.”

    Well that was a surprise.

I know it’s sacrilege to say out loud but I still hope Max wins. Even though I’m not a hardcore Max fan I have to admit I’d like to witness Redbull make history and get a perfect season.

I'm just going to enjoy how great qualifying was. The Leclerc, Verstappen, Sainz laps all tipping each other in succession. That was incredible.

Yep, .067 seconds separates all 3.

    Talk about close.

Geez, can some people just be happy for Sainz to get pole?

Well done, Carlos! Very good showing this weekend. All the critics need to shut it.

Hopefully, the boys can have a clean race, though I won't hold my breath.

Since we are now looking to the history books (Max equals Vettel and Ascari in number of consecutive wins), let's go back to Monza 1988 as well and hope for a repeat!

Of course realistically (just like 1988) it will take a miracle as the Red Bull is better in race trim than the Ferrari (not to mention race strategy and pits work  )
