How do you ship cars out and back when these typically don’t come with titles? For example, I’d like to send a car to Ontario Canada. How does getting it over the border work?

I just imported my 360C into the US…got an EPA race car waiver given the lack of title/federalization. Otherwise it’s the usual customs stuff. I used CARS; they handled all the details. I’m not familiar with shipping out of the US though.

I’ve brought plenty of street cars into the US but the race car going out is different. I’ll check into the EPA race car waiver and see if it’ll work both ways. Can you post the info for CARS?

It has been some years now, but when I took my F355 Challenge from New England up to Tremblant, I stopped at the border station - the US office! - and filled out a form. The customs officer noted that I had the car in the trailer. When I came back across the border, I showed the agent at the checkpoint the form, and he just waved me through. No title/registration paperwork needed. The form was to show that the car was IN the US before departing, so bringing it back wasn't a problem.

    HTH,

Your once a year post Dennis? :D We miss you, want to mod? ;)

Not exactly relevant, but I found it funny that I bought a rifle in the USA, it was registered in the USA, and when I went to hunt in Canada I filled out all their paperwork with zero issues until coming BACK into the USA. There was a border guy that was a complete dick when I mentioned I was bringing my rifle back after taking it legally to Canada. Very quickly a supervisor took over and was very friendly telling me I did nothing wrong. Even though the rules try to be black & white, the people you talk to aren't always. Well, in this case the people involved were black & white. :D

hahaha, it took me so long to extricate myself from all the club stuff when I got fed up with F-car dealer shenanigans and jumped to McLarens and Porsches, I just bought an F12 so I guess I'm back in the fold. :)

Once, when coming back into the US from Canada towing my trailer, the US border agent asked me what I had in it. "Just my race car, sir." "Oh, sure, that's fine. But . . . I have to ask . . . there's no chance that there are any PEOPLE in there, are there?" "Uh, nope, that sounds awfully uncomfortable."

(I am guessing that he asked because I am Chinese, and so... hahaha)

Appreciate it. My concern isn’t taking it up as much as bringing it back and having customs debate ownership or worse, try to seize a very valuable car. I have the bill of sale and total ownership history but with no title per se it seems a bit dangerous!

If you are talking in and out of Canada and US the forms are online and really simple. Rarely a hassle.
