Nico Rosberg also has an issue with Lance Stroll being a driver for AMRF1. But what does he know.....as some of the FChatters on here will say. Max and Lewis have a better chance of losing their seat than Lance ever will. Crazy **it right. UNBELIEVABLE.
Considering that Aston Martin has a market cap of just under $3.4 billion, $29 million is something of a drop in the bucket when it comes to investing. That said, there is little doubt that $29 million has been a poor investment.
There may a confusion between Aston Martin Racing F1 and Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd, which are 2 different companies. Stroll owns AMR outright, and has a 16% share in AML, where he is Executive Chairman. Investors in AML should have noting to say in AMR because Stroll bought Force India, renamed it Racing point well before he took interest in AML. The team then became Aston Martin Racing F1.
Indeed the market cap above is for AML; as far as I know AMR is not a public (listed) company so its value is anyone's guess. It is reported as being owned by "a consortium led by Lawrence Stroll", with not much information of the partners or their shares in that consortium. I suppose that sponsors may also want to have some influence on the team, as long as they actually provide some funding.
ROI on the 29 has been a loss lol. Clearly. Oh well Father-Son shared experience continues. Up Next he joins the World Poker Championship lol
Just added a bit of emphasis for a reality check. Some folks on here tend to forget that (not you William).
Oh, I'M ALL FOR SAVING THE COMPANY 1000%.......they just won't be championship contenders with his son as an F1 driver. Lance Stroll delivers mid-field performance.
Whether they are championship contenders or not has little to do with Lance and everything to do with their engineers. If they build a RB beater, Alonso will deliver the goods.
Alonso cannot hold off 2 drivers by himself regarding RedBull. Alonso needs another team-mate behind him by a 20pt to 50pt gap.....the closer the better. It ain't happening with Lance Stroll. Wait till Mercedes finds their mojo......5 F1 drivers fighting for the championship.
Only one driver each year is WDC, not 2 !! It has happened several times before that a driver wins the title, and his team not the WCC. All it takes is a very good car and a very good driver to win the WDC, regardless of his team mate. The second car is only to respect FIA rules that want 2 cars per team.
It has happened 11 times since the start of the WCC. Just 3 times since 1987. Teams care about the WCC, everyone else cares about the WDC.
The public remembers the World Drivers Champion, not the WCC winner. Several WDCs had weak team mates in the past: Clark, Surtees, Rindt, Fittipaldi, etc ... The WCC ranking is for the money redistribution, and the 3 or 4 top teams are in fact over-financed now with the budget cap.
I agree, as much as I like the kid, this is pure nepotism. A counter argument is this buys Stroll time to get better, and one day he'll be right at the top. That's a big *if*
exactly this. He improved from being woeful in his early years to at a push midfield and I'm being generous. He's plateau'd since then. There's nothing wrong with going to Indy or prototype's....
I think he would get thoroughly thumped in Indy Car. In F1, nearly half the grid are pretty poor drivers with money, some a lot worse than him. Stroll has had years with a team bought specifically for him, designed around his preferences, etc. He's had some really great cars to enjoy as well. In Indy Car he wouldn't get any of these benefits. Spec cars and nearly every driver is good.
+1 Miracles in F1 are utterly rare. Its only a 'miracle' he ever got a seat. The 'miracle' of Daddy Cash lol
The Lance Mid-Pack so called F1 driver's new job is just being announced lol Maybe he goes here - betting he is Mid Pack there as well. That's very different though...Button didn't look completely out of place. Not at all really. It took button 9 years to win a title but didn't make him useless before that time...
