I have always and continue to buy/support Ferrari my question is would Patek accept that there was a constant part that fails
    due to there initial design.

It would ultimately depend on how the fallout PR effects future sales. That's the reality. Like Ferrari, Patek have more customers than products on an annual basis. It is what it is.

Any/All, please read full thread before responding / this is only for purposes of tracking the prospective buyer of ZFF73SKA9E0201220 / currently listed at Naples -- Pozzi Blu over Naural Daytonas... Stunning. No idea of seller, good luck to the buyer. We care about that PTU....(hence this thread) I'm hopeful it clears at that asking price given that color. I'm betting it doesn't last long.

Hi ! why don’t we make a letter and all of us send it to Ferrari ? That’s been done already ?
I am sure there are several person with PTU issues . They cannot ignore that’s a bad built part . they should do a recall and find a solution for it .

Hugo, I know you are genuine in your suggestion and I don't mean to denigrate it, but there will be peace in the Middle East before Ferrari ever acknowledges they have a problem with their PTU. :(

    Theres a point there :)
But if don’t try and if nobody makes some kind of pressure … they will never change.
I am sure that we could make they pressure.
It would be a small thing for them ? We never know ….

Yes, Hollywood mechanic. I would use him for sure. He has also reengineered items that fail to prevent future fallout. You could either ship the car there, or have a local Indy remove and send and then replace once back. Ideally, you can remove yourself if you have the resources (lift, garage, tools, knowhow, etc) and then you're just waiting for it to return. If you're on the East Coast then maybe 4k to ship car both ways, when shipping to Europe is probably $800 each way for the unit itself and that is you removing the unit where you are as mentioned above. I follow him on social media and seems like a legit guy and happy customers. No brainer for me if ever happens to mine. Best of luck.

Sorry to bump this and maybe a dumb question... But does having the PTU fail and rebuilt risk any further harm to the trans ? Currently looking at a few and one is getting a whole new trans. vs one that had a PTU only rebuild

I shipped mine to them. They are the PTU rebuild gurus and sell their rebuild kits to other mechanics around the US.

PTU issue is completely separate from any DCT issue. I should now. Unfortunately, two weeks after having my PTU rebuilt by Hollywood, my DCT weap hole leaked out the gearbox fluid. Totally unrelated, but DCT rebuild was just finished. These are the two known big dollar repairs on these cars.
