Has anyone found a solution to the carbon fibre wheels leaking slowly through the structure ? Apart from spending £8k on a new rear wheel
I have emailed the manufacturer, carbon revolution In Australia but have had no reply. Ferrari will not replace as these were not originally specced with the car. Thoughts / ideas appreciated.

Have you tried BST in South Africa. I believe they make carbon fibre wheels. Perhaps the can refurb it.

Is it a known fault? I’d try harder with the manufacturer, they are a good company that has managed to create a great product somewhat against the odds. They are only small and don’t need any negative PR. That said, there may be something in their agreement with ferrari that prevents them from any dealings with ferrari customers, but if so I would have expected them to say that.

The wheel is not damaged, the car has never been raced, the wheel has never got hot as the thermal band is in original condition. Still no response from carbon revolution. The wheels are sold on licence to Ferrari, they will not sell me one, I just want some advice from them as to what may be possible to make the wheel airtight again. I could post a picture but there’s nothing to see, it’s losing 1 psi a week, the bubbles are barely visible due to the white coating on the middle section of the rim. Does anyone know of a resin/sealer that I could brush/spray on the inner section of the wheel that would possibly help ? This would not be visible once the tyre is mounted back on the wheel.

Wow, I have not had this experience with the wheel on a Ferrari, when I was with Mercedes several AMG wheels had a similar problem where the porousness of the casting allowed passive pressure overtime

This is what we used to correct the leak

Hi, many thanks for this, we’re the Mercedes wheels aluminium ? Unfortunately I can’t access that link to home depot, maybe because I’m in the UK. I can only find this in a tin, see picture

Let Ferrari sort it, have you tried using the direct e mail to ferrari customer services at the factory ?

They came with the car, the previous owner had bought them separately, so not optioned when the car was ordered. At the end of the day, for a wheel that retails at £8k a four year life span is not good enough. Carbon revolution now sell to Land Rover for the latest models, a much bigger heavier car, where the forces on the wheel structure must be increased compared to a car weighing half as much, how long before we see the 23” Range Rover wheels failing ? Who signs these off ? A 4 year old wheel with no physical damage, leaking through the structure should have a manufacturer recall in my opinion.

Dont be tempted to apply any sealer to them, they will certainly wash their hands of them if you did.
If they were bought separately then i dont see how the Aussy makers can claim non disclosure ?
Would it not be a contract between the previous owner and the uk distributor ?

Initially back in late 2019 the CF wheels were sold to Ferrari retailers/manufacturers. Only if they came with the car would the initial factory warranty apply. However if the previous owner could tell you which retailer they were bought from (receipt in hand would be helpful) you might be able to still file a claim with them(selling retailer). If all options fail,I would explore if it can be sealed from the inside to not distort the existing gray finish.

The wheels are only guaranteed for 1 year if bought from a retailer, so out of warranty and no receipt. Im awaiting a response from my email to Ferrari customer service in Italy. Not sure what Go F yourself is in Italian, but I think that’s what I’ll be told.

For peace of mind I'd personally go back to the standard forged wheels, or a set of aftermarket wheels from a reputable manufacturer (personal favorourite being HRE).

This is a set of HRE P104SC on a pista.

In the uk the sale of goods act applies, might be an idea to talk to local consumer affairs at the council to see where you stand. Goods have to be of a certain standard regardless, when you spend that sort of money you are entitled to quality. Also have a word with uk distributor as they have some responsability

"Consumable" wheels is a truly innovative concept.

Thanks for everyone’s help and suggestions, I have the original alloy wheels as a last resort but the carbon wheels in my opinion look better with my colour scheme. Sale of goods act will not apply as I have no receipt and have had the wheels over three years, atill waiting for a response from Ferrari Italy. I shall not give up !

Ferrari in uk and Italy will not do anything, even after highlighting a 4 year old car with a rear wheel costing £8k that’s porous, you have to allow £2k a year for one wheel alone. Carbon revolution in Australia just refer to their non disclosure agreement with Ferrari and will not interact with end user.
