This reminds me of a more or less recent topic on 550 seats where you and I posted that we didn't feel well in them, but after realising I could use fore and aft adjustment of the steering wheel this completely solved my issue and I do feel very comfortable now in my 550 and the relative hardness of the seats that originally put me off is much appreciated now and in fact helps with comfort. As a tall guy I have always found it took very little to switch from feeling comfortable to uncomfortable in any car.

    Really?

The seats and seating position in a Daytona is to laid back for me.

I have the Daytona Seats in my 575 and I spent all day driving the car on Friday doing just shy of 200 miles and I just loved how perfect they are! Perfectly comfortable and supportive at the same time.

That is an interesting comment..... Sounds like you need to get back into a 599 GTB??

Thursday I drove my 599GTB F1 with HGTE, Friday I drove my 575 Manual for most of the day then I drove a 599 GTB in Manual, Saturday I drove my 992 GT3 Touring which is also manual and it gave me a bit of perspective on all of the cars.

IMO the Porsche is the most symbiotic car ever made, I just love everything about it including the noise, the handling and the way it makes you feel.

The 599 GTB in Manual was probably the biggest surprise to me. The way it free revs is just divine. It was probably one of the most rewarding Ferrari's I had ever driven.

So much so, that I think if I had the opportunity for one last drive.... I would choose the 599 in Manual.

I have a massive soft spot for the 412 as well. Funny because I dislike the mondial quite a bit, whereas many like that and dislike the 412 more.

I guess I am the only one then…. I found them to be over plush, not very supportive, and roof height limiting. Sport seats have much better support and sit lower, giving him more natural line of sight out of the windshield (I’m 6’ 2”). That said they were definitely not very plush !

I am certainly no expert, hell not even a novice. However, I just fitted my 1998 550 with Fiammenghi race exhaust (No cats), Larini X-pipe and Tubis. Also did the radiator fan upgrade. Hands down; greatest car I have ever driven. Can be a GT cross country ride or a full out naturally aspirated V12 F1 car! I respect everyone's individual opinion and a I also understand cognitive dissonance. :). To each their own.

I could understand at 6'2" you want to be sitting lower.

Well, I am 6'3" and as I described a few posts above and despite significant initial misgivings I was able to find a consistent & comfortable position, which works for several 100 mile journeys.

This is a subjective topic anyway, as it depends not just on height but also on personal sensitivities and requirements. How our various body joints are balanced within our full height matters as much as the full height itself, and in my case my back cannot tolerate any lumbar adjustment other that the lowest. I have learned to accept driving with my legs mostly around the steering wheel, but that still requires a certain inclination of the seat base to avoid cramps on longer drives.

Anyway, sad that you were not able to find a satisfying position.with the standard seats.

I agree; as you note, it’s also a matter how you are proportioned. I have a long torso so seat height is key for me in these Italian cars. The seat was set as low as it could go and I could not angle the back down any further as there was no adjustment permitted. I still was looking out of the upper edge is the windscreen near the sun diffuser.

Mind you, the sport seats are not perfect either. The more you angle them back the odder the lumbar area becomes as the pivot angle is higher than you would expect (it’s not at the base of the seat, but rather a few inches above that). The sports it’s also had almost no cushion/squish… it’s like sitting on a (very fitted) bucket. Whatever, all of it is part of the charm!
