Just noticed this. He was my favorite driver growing up. https://rmsothebys.com/en/home/lots/nm23 Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
It is possible or alternatively he may just be cleaning house. It is not necessary to keep things forever and maybe he is emotionally done with it and wants to pass them on.
He had some falling out with the guys running the car shop on the island of Jernsey where a lot of his stuff was on display in a small museum. I visited that place once but the guys running it were jerks.
I hope it isn’t because he needs the cash, but it would have npbeen nice if he’d donated some or all of it…or the proceeds….to something like the BRDC…and perhaps he did, I don’t know.
Sorry to hear that. Wasn’t he a Ferrari dealer in one of the Channel Islands? Was that the place you visited?
I can't see the point of driving a supercar in Jersey. The top speed is 40mph, with many roads being single lanes limited to 30 or 20mph.
I think we are talking about the same place, yes. Jernsey is one of the Channel islands. But it wasn't a Ferrari dealer.
With a population just over 100K on this tiny island, I don't expect massive sales! This article dates from 2015. ttps://www.motortrader.com/motor-trader-news/automotive-news/nigel-mansell-expands-mitsubishi-dealership-jersey-20-04-2016 Nigel Mansell expands Mitsubishi dealership in Jersey
At the end of the day it’s just stuff. I have a lot of stuff at my house. Not anywhere near as cool. But to him it’s his normal and he can make money off of it. And I support that, it’s cool s***
Nelson Piquet used to say to Nigel that his ugly wife Roxane was wearing the trousers in the Mansell house. There may be some truth in it.
Looking at the Momo steering wheel: "Why doesn't your steering wheel match the rest of your car?" "Because it's not my steering wheel, it's Nigel Mansell's..." More likely I'll hang it on the garage wall.
Nigel's car from the 1984 Dallas Gran Prix. Englishman Nigel Mansell took pole position in the other Lotus-Renault and led the first half of the race, before suffering a gearbox failure at the very end and collapsing from exhaustion while trying to push his car over the finish line.
