Like an idiot I topped off the oil and left the cap loose. Quick drive later and it’s gone, somewhere on the side of the road!! before I spend £100 on a replacement from Superformance for what looks like a standard part, anyone know if there is a generic cap that fits?
Same cap as was used with an older Fiat 124 DOHC, I believe. At least, it should be cheap enough to be worth a try.
Zinc/dichromate finish rather than chrome. But less than $7. https://www.vickauto.com/parts/oil-filler-cap-fiat-124-x19-sku-54-1306/?gclid=CjwKCAjwgsqoBhBNEiwAwe5w03UiF-YWsS0VwSTyq0BD3lWm6IxsLVKeJ6qOumJc2dAqbAIRpcZoGBoCPnYQAvD_BwE
Any Fiat X-1/9, All the Fiat in the 70’s and 80’s, All Lancia Beta’s all use the same oil cap, the only difference is the Ferrari once are chrome.
In fact I bought one with the handle from a Pick a Part yard used that came off of a 74 Fiat spider and an I had it chrome. The handle on the cap makes it easier to remove even when engine is hot. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Are you absolutely certain that it didn't get caught somewhere? I found one of the battery cover nuts that had disappeared when I accessed the heater blowers. I found it 3 years later BTW!
I heard it ping off...... looked everywhere but it was by a grass verge on a busy main road so no luck. Grabbed a new one from Superformance
