For most original/stock sound: mount original Gen II manifolds and remove brackets on gearbox housing. Nothing els needed. The bracket on original muffler is strong enough to hold/carry the muffler. Drove 100.000km's in different conditions, no cracks or issues and nice original sound
are these the lower brackets people talk about removing ? Can’t find a single photo or video online on removing these. Lots of descriptions and pics of them already removed but nothing on how to remove or where they are. Do you need to lift the car to do this?
I show and cover the brackets at around 4:18 in this video. You can do them on the ground, removing just the diffuser.
Thank you very much. I have MK1 headers with no issues and not many miles so I think I’m just going to remove these and call it a day.
This are the ones: Image Unavailable, Please Login The "bow" at the top of the picture is strong enough to hold the muffler in place. No scrubbing of end-tips against the bumper openings
Or you can go with the Fabspeed ones which can deform as the exhaust expands but still supports the exhaust.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
You will not pass. The Capristo tool just clears the CEL. You might as well put black tape over the bulb. The car's emissions monitors will read "Not Ready" and the inspector will tell you to go drive around. Which, if you leave the Capristo tool plugged in, you will never reach readiness as it is just continuously clearing the codes.
If the solution was as simple as removing the brackets, Ferrari would have most likely had a TSB to do that, it's a lot cheaper than replacing all the headers under warranty or risking engines back when these cars were still new. I'm sure the bracket has a reason that Ferrari discovered they needed extra support during development of the car. I have heard it is related to a chance the exhaust can come into contact with the bumper surrounds. This doesn't mean it always happens, and maybe that specific situation never happened for you.
You really only have three options for new headers... #1, buy Tubi or Challenge headers #2, use O2 extenders #3, get a tune which prevents the CEL code for the front O2 sensors. Note: #3, may not be an option if you are in California as I believe they are now doing checksums on firmware.
Do you know what it is about the tubi and challenge headers that precludes triggering cel? As an aside, searching prior threads it seems like model year may play a role, with cels more common in later years.
Tubi moves the O2 sensor to a different location which prevents the CEL, and the Challenge headers just don't trigger the issue. FYI: I have the challenge headers, but got them before the price shot up.
Cool, that means Trev is a very very smart programmer making sure his checksums match the original. Not something most tuners are capable of.
I agree with Fred. The bow is strong enough to support it. I have removed those brackets on both my f430s. Ferrari may make a hell of a car and beautiful but they don't get everything 100% rite.
I do get that, but the brackets seem like such an afterthought that they were installed for a reason. This is a high-revving, nearly 200mph car so this could be to manage an edge case they ran into during testing. Granted most of us may not be doing anything with our cars that necessitates the brackets and so can remove or replace with something else could work.
Wish I knew that before. It was a tossup between tubi and capristo, this would have def pushed me towards tubi. Independent strongly recommended capristo so I went with that at the time
I had my go pro mounted filming the tips for before and after sound clips... there was no difference in the movement of the tips with a stock system with brackets and my kline without brackets. The leaf is very robust, and can easily hold all the weight of the muffler. Its a fact those bracket either break them selves OR break your headers.
Ditto for me...two F430's and have removed the u-bolts on both without issue. The 360 doesn't have lower brackets and the muffler is twice the size fwiw.
Guys, can 2006 Challenge headers be installed on 2008 F430 Spider? I am seeing different part numbers and prices on Eurospares, I wonder what precludes the 2006 headers being installed on 2008 Spider. Thanks!
yes i dont see why not - the challenge headers had a part change, dont think it was driven by model year.
