Does Ferrari still use their branded battery on new cars? My new 488 died after 5 months and it was on the tender at all times as well. The dealer told me to replace it with an Interstate battery and it would not have that problem.

I think your tune is helping with your battery life. :) Like your start/stop, your battery experience is an outlier.

lol, I have the BEST tune ever! No seat belt chime, no auto stop/start function, no battery drainage, no illuminated 'hold' feature, car is super fast, exhaust sounds good and the paint is a DEEP wet gloss.

  5. I would remove LoJack.

The parasitic draw is not good for battery health, either long or short term.

I have learnt to copy and paste.

    Every new Ferrari owner should

    a) Change the battery for a new one when picking up the car
    b) Buy a Starter

    a) If you dont do this YOU WILL BE STRADED ONE DAY and your dash will resemble a Christmas tree
    b) Save you from a) happening at least to get you to the place where you can replace your battery.

Arguing that this should not happen is immaterial, IT HAPPENS. Deal with it.

Amazed that many will spend 1000's on carbon and extras but somehow whing about a $300 battery ????

GOD help those going into SF90's and 296's !!!!!

    GOOD LUCK

I keep telling people also, it has to do with how you start the car... so many people start it wrong by pressing and holding the start button... this is one problem. The other is that locking the car which causes a lot of drain with alarm or whatever on. I've never locked mine and the key stays in it.

$300?! Try nearly $8,000 for a Pista battery from your local Ferrari dealer.

In the rare event the car is driven to a location where you will park to go to dinner for example, the car should not be locked because doing so would drain the battery? What !!!

Perhaps you could post a video illustrating the precise procedure on pressing the ignition button. An extra millisecond of ignition button pressing will drain the battery.Interesting.

lol, no... I'm saying if it's in your garage and locked with alarm etc for days/weeks... that would drain more than leaving unlocked.

and, start procedure of pressing the button, waiting for the 6 dings, then putting foot on brake and pressing again to start is what I mean... don't just get in, put foot on brake and press and hold the start button....

I have owned 2 dozen super cars - Porsches, Lamborginis, Ferraris, Mclaren and the only one that had these battery issues is Ferrari.

I just counted at least 11 beeps. I think your Ferrari is a knock-off. Probably has a Nissan engine under the engine cover.

Sorry to hear about your battery issues. as soon as I picked up my F8 I replaced the factory batter with a Antigravity Battery. Could not be more happy and with piece of mind as well. like 30lbs lighter and if the car drains the battery you can push the remote or a button on the battery and the car fires right up. So the battery will never let it drain all the way down. I got the 40amp/hr version. They have up to 60amp/hr as well.

Pista owners unfortunately have a Lithium battery and in Ferraris great wisdom have a custom battery with a connection which forces owners to get the OEM. Great move from Ferrari to hold your gonads.

Get a starter then at least because even with the Lithium battery YOU will need the starter one day.

FNA will replace my battery under warranty. I believe the battery was likely badly stressed and failed from its 3 month journey from factory to me. Who knows how many times the battery was allowed to drain, die and recharged. One of the cells is bad which is what created the problem. I consider myself lucky because I never used the start procedure described in this thread (1. press to activate the electronics, wait for six beeps; 2. foot on brake start the car). If I had done that, the computer would never have "seen" the excessive voltage drop which activated the fault codes. I would never know the battery was failing until stranded somewhere.

Regardless, my plan is to let them replace the battery so I am back up and running. But this battery will get replaced with a US sourced one after I decide which one I want.

(As an aside, I never lock the car when it's home, in the garage on the battery tender. No need. Amp draw in this mode is next to nothing (i.e. 0.01 amps))

The notion that transport time is a critical failure factor is flawed in that so many other marques are subjected to the same experience, yet only Ferrari suffers such a high battery failure rate.

Both my 488 and F8 left me stranded; both driven >3,000 miles ~9 months after delivery and always on the CTEK 7002. And both failures occurred on restart after being driven for at least an hour.

The reality is likely as simple as crappy batteries.
