I think the market is at a stable point right now where appreciation is more likely than significant bargains. It was a bit overheated at one point but has come back to earth. We are also seeing more “driver’s grade” cars come back to the market after a 2021 and 2022 where they were completely non-existent.

I will say $135+ and worth it.

Bullish, but that’s probably the lowest mile original Ferrari 456 GT on the planet (on the open market at least) and it is spectacular. $135k would not touch a comparable M model GT, which are exceedingly rare in the Ferrari range to begin with, a fact people are now coming around to.

    Those days are gone.

I also think 130+ should be a piece of cake for that car, though I haven’t looked at it much beyond a few photos. There was a blu NART / tan that sold for 127 when the market was on the way up - around 20k miles I believe. If this isn’t already a collector’s grade car, it’s just money to straighten it out.

We should also keep the recent Pozzi M in mind when considering valuation.

I agree this **should** sell north of 120k. Hopefully a new benchmark for Non-M cars. But I definitely feel the market has cooled some on the momentum it had previously. Be it seasonal or economics.

We all know how great these cars are, but seems like some of the 456 lore and stigmas persist, as well as those 2 extra seat belts work against the model from really breaking out how great they are.

None of the recent sales I have seen have had the valve guides done (prolly cause not necessary yet as they have mostly been below 50k miles).
How much more value would an example bring if that service was done? (Asking for a friend [emoji6]).

Depends on the car, depends on the mileage, depends on the service history. If nothing else has been handled on a 48k driver, like $5k. If the car has 19k 3 owners and checks every other box for preventative stuff, probably about dollar for dollar on what you paid (along with all that other stuff). Look at the green car that didn’t sell for $75k or whatever. If that was totally tuned up $115k would be a breeze.

It was really hit and miss on the bronze valve guides. Some 456s and 456Ms will never have a problem. Others saw a problem at relatively low mileage.

Do a leak-down test and, if good, nothing to worry about.

This car popped up recently on PCARMARKET and is still running. I'm linking back to this post from there so will keep this short and to the facts.
I inquired about the car in August (a month ago) when it was at Gullwing. They generously provided some additional photos to their listing. Here is the VIN tag.

I had some concerns about the car which perhaps could have been worked out with a PPI, but ultimately couldn't get a clear answer on the exact rebuilt/salvage title status from Gullwing before the car sold. One thing I did not like, specifically, was that the car must have been a full respray given the paint tag was for Blue Swaters Metallic FER 153/C. Here is the car's engine bay at the time.

Here is the paint tag and assembly number.

And here is the current underhood from the auction listing (I appreciate that they were able to get some valve cover trims):

And the assembly number so you don't have to squint

Notice anything missing from the first listing to the second?

How much were they asking at Gullwing?

Good detective work on the paint tag missing.

I can’t remember exactly, but not more than $50k. I’m like 60-70% sure it was 50, but may have been 45. Current seller has done some work on it and the car looks much tidier.

The 3k mile 456GT on BaT did an amazing $210k plus commission. Not sure that really means much with respect to cars that are not ultra low miles. In any event, I believe that is probably a record as far as I know.

That was fun to watch. You are right, definitely an outlier based on mileage. But overall it brings good attention to the whole platform. Likely brings up the floor a bit, even for the drivers cars.

What is crazy is that a properly sorted higher mileage car is perhaps preferable, if you want to drive it anyway. I think…
That said, I do wonder what a “comparable” mileage MGT would pull in today. Goodness.

I’m glad I pulled the trigger on mine this year and ignored some of the nonsense insinuating 456/456M’s market has matured.

Great car for the buyer and a well deserved result for the seller.

I believe Ryan Friedman had a 7 or 9k M car in Grigio / black and was initially offering it for $260k. Their final ask was either $200k or $180k, so to say that 95 is an outlier is putting it mildly. I personally do not see it significantly moving the lower end of the market, much as the Schumacher M and the 4500 mile GTA did not substantially. This was such a special car at the .1% of the top, it’s hard to say if that sort of result will even push down to pristine Hagerty 2+ cars. We will see what happens very soon on the driver M that was just posted as well as the salvage 95 on PCARMARKET I mentioned above.

I hope to see you in one of these 456 soon. It seems you've been looking and talking about them for quite sometime now.

Btw, were you negotiating or put in an offer with Ryan Friedman on the 456M? I, too was looking at the Grigio Titanium 456M and saw the car in person. I don't recall the mileage being so low...I thought it was and '02 around 14K miles. Ryan mentioned someone else was interested in the car.

Thank you. Here's hoping. The market has changed faster than my budget. When I started off, a tolerable driver was still in the 40's and a solid 3 was around 60. Not the case these days. I'm in a commission based position, so I might have $35k hit my account one week expecting another in a month or two, but then business changes and I end up having to live off it. I was willing to go to around $110k sorted out for a while, but the last 16 months have been brutally expensive since buying a house and setting it up. $100k no sweat between furniture, finishing the basement, and now I'm looking at a $15k bill for materials for what will be a very nice shed - not to mention all the "sorting out" that comes with a new house. I am watching the Azzurro California M that just hit BAT.

Wasn't me. Way out of budget and I thought their ask of $260k was a joke for the color pairing anyways. At $200k I thought it was fair. I thought it was under 14, but must have been over 6k.

HAS to bring up the floor.

What an amazing/shocking result….but I guess find another with those colors and miles?

the high bidder looks legit and must have an amazing colllection.
