Thanks for posting; still the same poor mold as the Ken Miles version, headlight covers are completely wrong, looks like the old GMP die cast tooling now being used for this model. The Trumpeter model kit has a better nose configuration.

Given the lengthy delays we've experienced that's a rather unfortunate typo Mr. Tanner.

Yes this company's kits do take forever. Atleast they still release auto kits, unlike Tamiya!!:(

Hey, I'm sure that just as soon as they sell out of the last stocks of the FW14 kit they'll be all over making something new... eventually... after they re-release the re-release of the re-released Tyrrell P34.

Ooh. I love that FPP kit. I built his Nuvolari Le Mans Alfa, and though it required a certain amount of cleanup, It built into a wonderful little car. I have some of his other kits in the stash.

I have the FPPM 1/12th version of the 1933 Lemans winner also. The wheels and tires are so amazing!! It ran Engelberts that year and FPPM made them perfectly. I am hoping he will do Tazio's Mille Miglia 1933 car also in both 1/24th and 1/12th someday.

Why is it the resin ready built makers can get tires correct and the plastic kit makers can't. This is the 1/12th CMR model wich has a few nose issues but the wheels and tires look better than all the kits. Even Hiro can't manage to get tires correct half the time. I am getting "tired" of it. Get original measurements and pictures and then make. Do not use restored cars as a guide.

I feel the same; many details are overlooked, not enough research done to eliminate errors, I generally stopped buying and am cutting back on the ones I have , just keeeping the ones I appreciate the most.

Very interested in the Pinto kit of the Blackhawk. I already have an unbuilt 1/25 Etzel, which is very good already, but would love to see an even better version of the most beautiful LSR car ever made.

Lots of the problems with modern kits versus older ones is that the master patterns are very often rendered in some form of CAD system and then 3D printed; the 3D print is then refined into a master. One thing rately talked about is that, on a computer monitor, it is very difficult to "see" a true 3D shape. Even though you can fully design in 3D and rotate the CAD model around in space to see all sides, there is a MAJOR disconnect between what the human eye sees on a screen, and what it sees when it is looking at a true 3D object held in front of it. Things that look great on the screen often do not look so good sitting on the table. This is a difficult concept to grasp, and one that sadly, many model "makers" can't understand or accept. Certainly this is aimed at reducing costs; no longer do we rely on a true Master Pattern Maker (and the attendent expense in employing him). It's not tough to learn CAD, and with additive manufacturing just a few grand away, darn near anyone can be a junior-wannabe model/pattern maker. And we see some really nice stuff, but also some terribly disappointing stuff, and if you want to talk about these little, sniggling inaccuracies, ones that can sometimes mean the difference between buying that expensive kit and passing on it, it is the heavy reliance on computers, rather than human eyes and hands, that is often the culprit.

Well stated Kitbash, nice summary of today's 'rush hour'. techniques and lack of accuracy. Perhaps the best solution is to do a 3D image photoshoot of an actual car?

I know this is a "New" Model Kit Thread, but I thought you'd like to see these images I found on Facebook of what is probably the OLDEST model kit of a Ferrari. It was first issued by Gowland & Gowland in 1952 as part of their Highway Pioneers series and was reissued a year later by Revell for the princely sum of 79 cents. (That would be about $9.00 today.) The box calls it a 4.1 Litre which would make it a 340.

The Ferrari was also issued as part of a "Speedy Sportsters" gift set which I understand is extremely rare; the excellent reference site Scalemates.com has no record of it. BTW, these kits are all 1/32.

Looks like Hobbyeasy in Hong Kong have received their stock as people are starting to see invoices in their inbox.

On the other hand, with just a few mods, that Vette could easily be made into the Cunningham LeMans cars of 1960.......

That's what we all thought. Maybe the next kit will be the Cunningham car. I wish they would do a 1963 Grand sport of the 1957 Sebring SS. Last classic Corvette I would like is the 1976 Greenwood LM 1976. I know AMR was doing it in 1/12th scale when he passed away.

I built the same kit around 1957 and bought another on eBay 20 years ago. Unfortunately sold when we moved 4 years ago.
