Hello all I've been hunting C/4's for a bit. Today it happened. looking forward to its delivery in a week or 2.
S/N 14467 Interesting history. 1971 Ferrari 365GTC/4 | Saratoga Motorcar Auction (saratogaautoauction.org) one thing I need to unfold is the back seat. It has a luggage tray instead of a back seat
14467 was born as Euro version for Prince Bernhard of The Netherlands. Once it came into USA (May 1974) it was converted and received the side marker lights and other stuff. Also got a new interior in 1989 (the original one was Beige Scuro VM 846). Marcel Massini
Ah the green one...... I followed this auction out of interest. Strong money in today's market for a C/4. Any interior pix? I didn't see any in the listing. Rebuilt motor.... Euro or USA version.... won't make any difference. Hopefully the folks that did the motor raised the CR to get a little more usable power. Congrats and enjoy. Wonderful cars you can take anywhere.
A friend of mine owned one in the uk, light blue if i recall. They had to totally rebuild the engine after it touched a valve, once they managed to jack the cylinder heads off. Even had to re machine the block to recover the landings for the liners. Once it was done the engine bay looked like new, the work quality was fabulous.
Yes, wondering a little bit about the rebuild engine in the verde one, if rebuild i won‘t miss to make hoses, clamps, finish and that in first line for a saftey and durable drive, nothing is more bad than a broken hose on tour… And i‘m a fan of patina and survivor condition but engines and engine bays are hard to rebuild with patina, because there are a lot of surfaces which need to be proper cleaned and sealed and a lot of covers need a refinish. I tried to manage „as new“ condition in technic and an authentic survivor look in optic with only changing really bad parts. They look great when they look like that. It took 18 months to rebuild my friends engine by the time they sourced the pistons, liners and lots of machine work
I had luck, my engine had only 35K miles, and pistons, liners, etc. were perfect. Only the cams had some pitting and we had build the, custom made. Of course valves, guides, etc. came new too but crank, pistons, rods and liners are still original.

From what i understand the engine i am talking about had lost compression on a couple of cylinders, they think someone turned it in wrong direction when servicing it, so valves hit pistons
The Verde car is in transit. When it arrives I will go through the documentation and know more. It has been under top tier stewardship ( Chinetti, Fritz). The engine rebuild was performed in the early 2000’s but well documented. We will see next week.

What prompted the engine rebuild, Marcus? Low compression? Updated cam chain tensioner installed? Great photos and apparent quality work. In Malta?
Oil leaks at rear of engine. Upon opening we found that the right hand side head gasket was about to call it a day. Probably previous owner at one point in time put some normal water in the system before the new core of the radiator was installed. Otherwise all was fine but I hate an engine with oil leaks. Since 50 years old we decided to make a thorough inspection. The car is at a specialist in Holland so that also prompted me to take this decision not having these specialists on the island. Since you mentioned it , a new updated tensioner has also now been installed. Bottom end was found to be in great nick , so no interventions there.
