    Hi,

I bit the bullet and performed the sticky button fix myself today using makeup remover wipes. The results are decent, but there is one spot that I rubbed too hard and now there's a bit of white showing underneath. Is there a way to fix this or cover it up?

Send it to StickyRx to get refinished. Unfortunately, that is the hardest piece to remove.

I'll add this. I've done this on both of my 458s. I encourage you to do this now. The plastic pieces in the dash are getting brittle with age. The longer you wait, to pull the dash apart, the more likely you'll also be ordering some plastic bits when something crumbles.

While the car is down, you can have someone fix sagging headliners, wrinkled leather and any other niggles.

Is there a good guide on how to disassemble to remove this piece? Or should I take it to a mechanic?

There are some PDF guides here on FChat. For an Italia, you have to remove the glovebox and then the dash. For a Speciale, you have to find the random screws holding in the dash, which is a PITA. Depending on where you live, I think it would be the most economical to hire a someone to come to the house and disassemble it in your garage. Then you aren't paying storage fees while the car is down for however long it takes StickyRX.

StickRX does great work. It's a pet peeve of mine to have the buttons right. Yet I wash my Speciale two or three times a year. We each have our own things we care about. :-D

Thank you and great idea re hiring someone to come to the house. I didn’t realize that was even an option, this is a new experience for me. :)

Do you have any suggestions for how I can find someone like that? I’m in Houston.

I've used StickyRx for at least 4 Ferraris I've owned and their work is exemplary. Your parts will come back better than new and more importantly you will not have a problem with them again. Their lead time, in my experience is about 4 weeks depending on the extent of the job or parts that required refurbishing. They are, in my opinion, the best in the business and if I have to wait a couple more weeks it's worth it.
