Crossing solid lines is stupid to begin with, but doing so while seeing that the road is busy baffles me. Looks like a group of inexperienced drivers that saw one guy overtake and decided to follow, almost none of the drivers drive like they've passed a car before

I agree. The people I ride with have a rule. Drive at your own speed. Let's plan to meet at X place. Have fun.

I almost always drive my car alone, I really dont know any people around to even set up a drive, so theres that. I also dont ride in or with large groups of motorcycle riders either. I think " bad driving " has become a world wide epidemic , from what I see right where I live, and while watching You Tube motorcycle crash videos. Not to long ago I would have most likely made some wise ass remarks about those folks, I dont have that desire . What I will say, is that modern Ferraris, as well as a lot of other high HP machines really seem to be way to much for the average driver. I do think that is a sensible remark, so theres that.

Both cars were rental cars. So there is a tragic lack of skill and experience.
I did thousands of kilometers driving in Ferrari convoys with the club. We were going fast some times but in 22 years we never had accidents.

That is criminal, outrageous. Far too often recent Lambo drivers are involved in this nonsense, a major attitude problem, the same idiots that make noises in parking lots or driving through villages, the worst behavior, zero sense of social responsibility, of respect.

In this accident the Lambo driver is clearly responsible and yes as Marcel notes there was a no passing white line anyway.

Regarding translation I am surprised you are not familiar with google translation, it is far from perfect but helpful.

Will disagree that the Lamborghini was the primary at fault driver…..the Ferrari was literally driving on the wrong side of the road, instead of doing what everyone else was which was passing the car with the camera and going back into the right lane to wait their turn passing the truck. They knew all these supercars would be passing the truck….

Who knows how long they were hanging out in the wrong lane.

Completely agree. The lambo was partially over the white line the entire time the ferrari was approaching, making it obvious he was going to make a move. Absolutely primarily the Farrari's fault. The lambo also should have better awareness of their surroundings.

or their blinkers. and they were straddling the middle line. Which was a continuous line so no passing allowed. So they ended up hitting the Ferrari that was also passing on a forbidden section without blinkers. Just a bunch of very poor drivers. People get easily excited when they are in a group and end up doing things they would never do alone.

This whole thing is a perfect example of Darwinism.

Pass over a solid line... Lambo and Ferrari...Check
Don't use turn signals to show your intent... Lambo and Ferrari...Check
Ride too close to the large vehicle in front of you that clearly blocks your visibility... Lambo...Check
Drive in more than one land continuously... Lambo... Check

    Shall I continue???

In the defense of the Lambo driver... I just got back from Hyderabad India two weeks ago so I have first-hand knowledge, he was driving normally for India, just not for Europe. Also, I never saw any fancy cars on the road in India. They would not have survived a single kilometer.

It felt the same way in Mumbai -- they seemingly drive slowly, poorly, and block each other on purpose. Way too many people, way too many cars, and literally just random driving. People would be walking on the side of the road and get their arm hit by the mirror of a passing car -- and neither driver nor walker would even react Image Unavailable, Please Login .

I used to say "I'm not a good enough driver to be able to drive in Rome, and not a bad enough driver to be able to drive in Mumbai" :).

I never drove in India, but I did later drive in Rome, guided by a slightly laggy Garmin GPS. The GPS took me through silent "no drive" zones in the city, like circling around the Colosseum, which I never realized until I got a ticket from Italy a couple months later (I think maybe a 150 or so Euro? I don't remember exactly).

This accident illustrates why I am reluctant to drive on the Nordschleife with the public. Haven't done it in years, now I would only go back for private track time.

According to news reports the truck driver was injured.

Every supercar driver in the video was driving like a moron, on a busy no overtake road, as if they were four year olds given a toy and told to go for it for two minutes. The Portofino driver, a Swiss man in his late sixties, who died, was unforgivable. He killed his wife, injured others and could have killed others. The Lambo driver who didn't check his mirrors was a potential killer, also.

I wanted to say they acted like people who had never driven a supercar before but sadly you can't generalise like that.

I am haunted by the glimpse of the arm of the wife, hanging on to the windscreen A pillar, as her moron husband does his first overtake and in his flush of adrenaline sets off on the second, fatal, double overtake (I can't see a brake light during this manoeuvre maybe I am wrong). She did not know she would be dead, trapped under their blazing car seconds later.

A sixty seven year old man racing others on a road like that and trying to overtake an overtaking car in the face of an oncoming truck, all in a no overtake zone. He could have killed 10 people. I did some stupid driving when I was a teenager, but this is beyond unbelievable. And now he and his wife are dead, innocents are injured, and his family damaged forever.

Just curious, I don't know what time of day this happened, but did anyone have the classic 3 martini, or negroni, lunch?

It's hard to imagine that these drivers were sober. I mean someone said the Cali driver was in his 60's. To drive like that you are either 16 or under the influence.

Looking at the video again, how did he not see the Lambo driver, who was constantly driving well across the line? There was really never space to safely pass even if the Lambo hadn't gone for the pass.

It appears that the term "supercar event" is a misnomer as it leads one to the impression that it was a gathering of supercar owners sharing a driving experience in their personal cars. Rather, the "Sardinia Supercar Experience" is a 3-day adventure tour that offers the chance to drive a rented supercar while experiencing Sardinia at highly rated hotels and restaurants. These tourists, not supercar owners, displayed their lack of experience in high performance cars and the consequent lack of judgment in driving and passing.

Killer Ferrari driver was Markus Krautli, 67, from near Zurich. His wife, who he killed, was Melissa, 63. Not sure if post mortems could determine blood alcohol. The Lambo driver and passenger were uninjured, the driver of the truck the Lambo hit was injured.

I would agree they were not driving like people who knew supercars, but who knows. Maybe they were idiots who owned supercars at home and rented them for this. Not easy getting your own car to Sardinia. What's sure is they were/are idiots, one of them in the permanent past tense.
