Ya I agree with Andy… why test? Who cares if it’s the chinah or a flu or a cold or hypochondria? The remedy is the same.

    Feel bettah soon

Any reputable concrete company will do the following.

Excavate soil to required depth. Add at least 2 inches crushed rock, Pound the rock down. Then timber boarder the concrete job. Install steel mesh on cup holders.
Verify the grade of concrete that will be used i.e the KPA Higher KPA the stronger it is and dearer.
Make sure water gutters are in place and where the water will flow.
Price to include all the above and ALSO concrete cutter to come on site and cut the expansion joints.

THIS IS want is required. I read and looked at these shamrock site . They never mentioned ANY of the items I have pointed out.

IF you want a good job find someone that will do what I pointed out . You should also ASK.

A cheap job might not include anything I mentioned, and it WILL FAIL.

Nobody installs steel mesh around here on driveways. Literally no one. They use mesh infused mix. Everyone I've spoke to also said that cutting expansion joints after the fact is the ghetto way to do it. Makes a mess and promotes cracks.

I got ****ed on the previous subcontractor. It was a learning experience.

Do as you wish its your property. I'm just giving you information of the proper way to do it. From start to finish.

Sorry but the information you have been given is BS. IF YOU believe it so be it.

All I'm doing is helping you with the knowledge I have and also my relatives 50 years of concrete laying experience.

That's fine, but they obviously lay concrete differently in the US than where you live.

They don't use mesh in residential driveways here. Not needed if prepped. That's just fact.

Concrete is concrete no matter where in the world you are. I have just pointed out what is done to effectively have a long lasting foundation.

There is a reason why crushed road compounded is first laid.
There is a reason why you need to know the KPA of the concrete that will be laid.
There is a reason why steel mesh is introduced.
There is a reason why thickness of concrete is specified.
There is a reason why concrete is cut up after it has dried.

Professional installers will answer and do everything I have stated EVEN in the USA. Now if they dont DOESNT mean that things are correct. You are just accepting what they tell you.

America will have a Standard document outlining the procedure. Ild bet what I have described is what will be written.

So, if you are happy with what is told to you so be it. Ill wait and see when you post the drive way failure you will get.
