Decided to try to see if I could drive the circuit today (as much as possible). Actually, pretty easy drive with not much traffic. Lots of construction still to go though. All of Koval still needs to be resurfaced.

Other than traditional Monaco. Get rid of street races. They are terrible tracks with no run off like driving through a tunnel. Cars too easily damaged. Terrible ways to view it in person and no way to move around. Cota, a revamped WG,silverstone,Laguna seca. I have been to street races. Tend to leave early. No way to change viewing area.... they quickly get boring.

It will be a great track to watch the race, especially at night, just wish it was more exciting and earlier in the season when we don't yet know who the new champ is.

I hope your comments about getting around seeing in person are NOT related to Monaco (as you might have intended by the opening sentence). Monaco is super easy to get around and has some of the best viewing spots because they don't have tall catch fences on a flat surface. I agree with you that flat places like Singapore, Miami etc are horrible from that perspective.

But that's not really an issue about the street circuits but flat tracks in general. Monza or Silverstone are not particularly interesting: You can only see the section where you sit. It's all about hilly tracks that makes them interesting, whether that's Barca, COTA, Spa or Hungaroring.

Apparently a worker died during construction and hotel restaurant staff might go on strike...but of course that is all hushed ...

I remember back in 2005 or 2006 there was a construction worker death when building the Aria hotel. It happens. Always sad.

Robots will be here to do it all one day.

I went to walk a good part of the track on Saturday. The Paddock, the Stands, and the 2 pedestrian bridges are staggering in size. One year ago this was a dirt field. This is what almost $1B buys you. You can see the TV screens on the Paddock facing the grandstands which look Northwest.

This is the view of Sands and the LV Strip in front of the CVS looking up at the Wynn. If anyone has a room this is what you would be looking at. Its an important corner because the speed you can take this will determine how fast you go down the Strip straightaway. You'll get a good view but it will be a bit far away.

A view from Koval Ave of the area of the grandstands on the back side of the Paddock. I'm heading South towards Harmon at about the exact point where the cars will rejoin Koval.
Koval Ave still needs a LOT of work. If anyone is lucky enough to stay at Ellis Island, this is a short walk away.

Thanks for the great photos...the main grandstand and pit complex does look impressive! 6 or 7 weeks to go, is this immense project going to be done on time?

Yes. But I'm guessing some things are going to be trial and error for an event this big. There's a massive hiring and volunteer campaign also going on

They will finish it in time! Probably resurfacing the track's last meters between warm-up and formation lap ;-)

Kinda surprised there isn't a pizza on there too? It could be final menu not complete? I guess I can break even on entry fee if I can eat about 200 tacos a day!
