Last sale on eBay 6 weeks ago was for 2800 pounds, so vendor netted about 2500 pounds, coming back to realty, the billionaires that missed out and have a Miura all now have a copy.
This LibraryThing thing is quite well done and very open! In the end it is a good source for browsing in others libraries.
From the file of "theres no harm in asking " one year on and it's still for sale... https://www.hortonsbooks.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=14930&search=miura&description=true

And the "20,000 Dollar Man" has lowered his offer to less than 15,000 USD at eBay: https://www.ebay.de/itm/234650026623?hash=item36a23b427f:g:kYMAAOSwQJli7mUE&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoADcldolABpu8pDRj1C0ud3vXdI9NOMVRG9PAxQT5VwylpSvuZFqN2Qf6udGbCo7II7eOkBel2BMHxmoHegGoBHfBKB51uhcdDRmGpDYQEqnBtTkOmfHoebDDU%2Bmxj6OxhNSa9pMhLsTbCceOoN7re%2FF9eE%2FwedCquWE9OdjuRTz6%2FnwItj8XLKmpnv%2FwGNImS1yUc%2FoJXASe00zOPbVYSk%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR-bonP_dYA&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=707-53477-19255-0&campid=5336838664&toolid=10001&customid=lk4dkxjrec000k3x007hu Tough times for speculaters!
I made a reasonable offer on one of the books in that eBay link, the "seller" is not really interested in parting for market value. Even with the price reduction, I think he is off by at least 10K Did the Miura book in the FoS auction receive an offer? If so, anyone knows how high?
Retail is suffering as a generalisation and car books are obviously included in that. Expect it to get worse or better depending whether you are a buyer or a seller ! Ferrari memorabilia however seems to be holding up.
This afternoon, a very good copy of "Ferrari in Camera" didn't sell for 1,000 euros (would have been 1,200 euros including buyer's premium) at Marcel Seidel Ladenburg! There hasn't been one single bid. I agree with you: prices of collectors' books have come under considerable pressure recently. Interestingly, prices for original photo prints are still sky-rocketing. Just today, an original Pininfarina print of a BB engine was auctioned for 135 euros (incl. premium). I have that print as part of an original 1972 press folder with 5 other prints, I paid 120 euros for the whole thing three years ago!
Agree. I guess that's why you should buy a book because you are interested in the content, not as an investment item as you can now see how fragile the market is.
The offer of a further 200 copies never materialized, at least, they have never been offered at Negri's online shop. So, it’s just 100 copies which have been produced.
I've been waiting for the remaining batch of books to be produced for ages but started to give up hope. I would be guessing it was either a production or financial issue causing the delay which seems to be finally sorted.
I don’t recall ever buying one solely as an investment, except perhaps this one. I could be induced to part with it…. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Me as well. Never considered the 'investment potential' of my books, but then no one ever accused me of being a financial wizard.
I’ll amend my comments….I do recall two books I purchased as investments because I’d already read the mass market editions: Author-signed first editions of “Lonesome Dove” and “Atlas Shrugged.” I still have them, after about 25 years. McMurtry signed his in my presence…somewhat grudgingly…. at his famous bookstore in Archer City, Texas.
