As I put more miles on my Stingray(s) my desire for the Z06 is waning. By the time my allocation number gets called, if ever, I may not even want one. I now certainly won’t pay over sticker for a dealer specc’d car whereas a few months ago I was willing to pay $50K over…then $25K over…now…zip.

If I get my car by November, the 6 month sales requirement puts me into May of next year which is when I would decide on whether to keep it or not. The factory shenanigans is making a lot of people lose interest.

If I’m being honest with myself, I’m feeling the same. Honestly, I’m not sure how much more I”m getting for the additional cost and hassle. The stingray has been really good at doing everything well. Having sold my Ferrari, I still do miss that strung FPC rev, but part of the reason I replaced it was because I wanted to remove hassle and stress from my life at a time when I don’t need more complications. Every day that goes by, I’m less likely to buy new and more likely to buy used down the line.

the sting ray is that good. the z06 is a track car.
harsher ride, louder and need to keep it in a higher rev range.

Yep, same with me. I took my HTC on a trip back and forth to LA a week ago. Very pleasant trip. I was wondering at the time if there would be a better car for a trip like this and I couldn't think of one. Of course, very little luggage but aside from that, its a great open road car. Not sure the Z06 would be. And I'm not sure I would like an even wider car than the Stingray for daily driving and parking.

I just past 3 years. Bought the extended warranty for 50 bucks a month. By Ferrari standards its the bargain of the century.

    I feel exactly the same!
I feel as though I’m going through a transitional phase. I’ve enjoyed playing with numerous Ferraris going back to 2014. Now, I’m ‘down’ to one, the Speciale (I apologize if sounds douchy to say something like this). I had to buy a separate garage for my extra toy cars and the whole rigamarole of dealing with all this stuff is becoming more aggravation and stress than enjoyment. A couple days ago it was a perfect day here in the mountains, 75F brilliant crystal sunshine with gentle breeze and some puffy clouds. I grabbed the keys to the htc stingray put the top down and wife and I went for a gorgeous drive to a lunch place in a little town. Spiced up some curves but mostly light spirited relaxed driving. The SR was literally the perfect tool for the job. I think the Z06 would have been a step down from that. I’m getting older and after years of attacking the roads and tearing up corners I’m getting tired of that.
I’m toying with the idea of trimming down further to my truck (love my F150 King Ranch), one luxury sedan (love my Rolls) and one Stingray (I have two now) and just leave it at that indefinitely.
I’m considering converting my truck into an overland vehicle and doing more hiking and camping.
I’m also getting more interested in collecting watches, nowhere near the hassle and the artistry of the mechanical engineering and design is mesmerizing to me. It actually is a similar fascination to that of fine cars.

We just sold our last old corvette (1972 vert) and my wife loves the garage space. Almost hate to kill that feeling for her when the new vette gets here. Cars aren't as much fun as they used to be. Or, maybe I'm not as much fun due to changing priorities.

    - nothing beats the feelings with the first exotic. When it comes to obtaining a fun car.

A friend with multiple exotics and a full-time mechanic mentioned the quest for more loses it's appeal.

Every time I see my friend's Z06, I'm shocked by the sheer size of the car. It's only a couple inches longer and wider than my 458, but it just looks absolutely massive in person.

Interesting last few posts. Seems peopel always wnat the latest hottest car without really understanding what it is.
How many gt4rs have gone to the track. Seems most are bought loaded with frippery and then sold a few months later for profit. That’s the customer model. Pepole wnat the latest greatest and to be able to sell for a profit. Actualy living with and using the car less so, esp if it’s a hard charging riding car. Image vs reality.

the fact is an erey is a far better road car than a z06 in every objective road use manner, and a stingray does it all. Next year when the zr1 comes out “everyone” will want that. Cause it’s “faster”

Exotics have a large emotional quotient to the purchase though.

it’s also true that the demographic that can afford a Vette esp a z06 are not exactly the hard charging youth vote.

add to all of that two countervailing factors. Cars have gotten infinitely faster and also better, so enjoyment that come s from really using a cars performance requires higher speeeds. All whike society looks down on speed, roads have become really crowded, oter drivers are poor, cyclists ride as bough there are no cars, and if you did find some open road to really excercise a car you’re just one radar shot away from thousands in fines and endless hassle.

a stingray makes sense because it’s an inherently comfy lux car with some exotic feel and more tha enough go. It’s an opportunistic feeder, you drive about in comfort and if there happens to be. A bend or open stretch you can take it. That’s as much as one can expect on most trips.

To cater to the more hard core drivers in the modern world there has been an explosion of tracks and de events where one can go to excercise their car or play hard, that’s where it happens. If you were not taking a z06! To the track it is arguably a lesser experience than a stingray or erey. But what do I know, most exotics cruise to cars and coffees and their owners love that, it’s a broad hobby and rationality does not necessarily apply.

I actualy think that for big open roads and occasionally driving to and on track a z06 hits a sweet spot. For just road there are better choices, for just track way better choices and for mountain roads better choices. But the Vette does cover a lot of bases.

imo you could probably cover all the bases witha. F150 a bently coupe a gt3 a cobra replica and an Elise. The Vette in its various iterations seems to distill a lot of those elements

  15. If you simply substituted the following:

    • 911 = Vette / Stingray
    • Z06 = GT3/RS
    • ZR1 = GT2 RS
    • ERay = 992.2 GTS

    Everything would be equally valid.

Long way of saying this mentality is not isolated to Corvette owners, but all marques.

Hence wither the GT4rs, destined to be ordered festooned with frippery reminicent of a designer handbag. Then driven not necessarily caringly on road until the ownr tires of the noise and ride only to then pat themselves on the back for having turned a profit.

I do think though that the z06 covers a lot of bandwith from 992 Gts to Gt3 rs.
Zr1 will imo not be a Gt2 Rs becase that is a really serious track car. But as a road car will prbably attract the same gotta have it. Actually the Zr1 will cross the lines between a Lamborghini aventador and a 992 GTS. It will work like a GTs but have go like an aventador.

If you liked your driving, like road driving and wanted to use the car as a car too but went to the track on occasion and could only have 1 car, a Caymamn Gt4 probably covers all the bases great, except for the emotion. IMo the Gt3 is already a little out there for everyday type of use but applies too and ups th emotion quotient.

If you live somewhere with big roads, like Florida and much of the US, a Gt4 Gt3 is near pointless on road, there are few bends and what exactly are you doing with it. A Porche Turbo makes way more sense in terms of use profile. A z06 however woks just great in big straight roads and highways, yet it can still apparently dance on track. Id say the z06 is a blend between the porche turbo and Gt3. The Zr1 thats going to be the Tiurbo s turned up to 11 with a little Gt2 rs thrown in.

I finally received my order confirmation from GM this morning - Hypersonic Gray 2LZ with Natural interior and GT2 Comp seats.

I've actually been considering canceling the order and buying another base coupe in the same colors.

    We'll see.

I have been like a lot of you guys. Wanting to get a Vette. Ideally a z06, but the reality is a standard C8 convertible is just fine for my m.o. Will be very interested to hear thoughts once y'all get to try out your Z06s.

As a C8 Stingray owner, I agree with this sentiment regarding the C8 Z06...i.e. "do I really need this?"
Most days for the last 31 months that I've owned my car, a recurring question comes to my mind and answers itself:
"What does this car NOT do that I need it TO do?"
    And the answer is: Nothing

    Fast/reliable/fun/great utility (for a sports car)/etc.

Was just notified by the dealer I’m at 3300 with a TPW of 10/30.

I provided my deposit to Kerbeck (now Ciocca) the first week of November 2021. I provided my SF90 Spider deposit in early December of 2021. I have heard nothing about the status of that car.
