Got my re-upholstered seats fitted, and new carpet set.
    Roof panels are original.
I had to make the front headrests, as the car didn't come with any. I didn't try for a replica of stock, I made them to be the size I wanted, in the most appropriate position to be useful in a rear-ender.

How did you adjust the steering height? I'm tired of driving a school bus. :) Detailed instructions and pics are extremely helpful. Thanks

I decided to tackle the dreaded a/c in my '89 328. I bought an a/c manifold with gauges and a few cans of R134a, and went to town. Ambient temperature here in the TX Hill Country was 95F. I charged the system to match the PSI specs per the charts. It worked! Well, sort of. 328 air conditioners are still complete s***. Temp coming out of the center console register is between 55-62F, depending on fan speed and engine RPM. I went for a drive in full sun, 95F outside, top on, windows up and was almost comfortable. (By comparison, my '22 RAM register temps are 44-50F.). One major obstruction to the flow of air are the ridiculously thick register airflow directional dampers. So I pulled them out l, removed the dampers and popped just the vent frames back in. Yes, I have 2 huge holes in the console but this is a HUGE IMPROVEMENT. Honestly, I doesn't look bad with the black frames in place. Sure I can't direct what used to be a trickle of air in my direction, but I now have a blast of "coolish" air flooding the cabin. Of course, a stream of condensation from the evaporator is going into the cabin. I'll figure that problem out later. The big question is, 'How long will the system keep the charge?'. Fortunately, R134a is dirt cheap and is a simple for DIY job with gauges and a thermometer.

Can we get more info on the Classic Air upgrade?

how it is performing now versus before?

    is this the 2100 kit?

    how was the installation?

easy to run the new lines?
    How cold is it?
Do you have to run it at max to get cold?
Is the replacement fan more powerful?
How much does the new compressor weigh compared to the old one?
    Any issues installing it?
How long did it take to install?
    Recommend the kit?
    Thanks!

There really is no reason to buy the kit from Classic air. You can purchase the required items for a fraction of the cost. If you want modern AC in your car, see this post.

Appreciate the link. I followed that one and it is I definately an option. However, I do feel just swapping the entire system over to a proper R134 system is perhaps a better way to do it. The new compressor I am sure weighs a fraction of the old boat anchor one. The lines and condenser all upgraded to latest technology. Also, no cutting and chopping the a/c grills on the interior. Brackets designed for the easy swap. A solution that is tried and tested that comes with 24x7 support along with installation help has its appeal. I just want to hear from someone who has now installed and used the kit in the real world.

Understand. I have the euro car, so it had the better compressor. After you install the kit, I think you will find the problem is not enough directable airflow. Not how cold the air is. In Texas for example, this kit is not sufficient.
    Good luck

Trust me, the blower helps but, not near enough. It's like blowing thru a straw. You can buy the blower for less than $100. There are countless threads on this forum about the AC. They all end find the same thing. Not enough airflow.
The stock AC system is really ok. It's the interior ventilation system that's bad.

Vinyl wrapped the fog lights. I went with Euro style yellow. Looks pretty good and more importantly, the stupid expensive to replace original glass lenses are now protected from further pitting or getting cracked.

First drive was amazing. Felt like the car had never been apart. Eager to rev. Easy to shift. Clutch smooth. Brakes firm. No suspension knocks or squeaks. Even wheel alignment seemed decent.

Too much to list here about what was done but have a separate thread that covers most of the journey.

    Yes it fixed it.
For a couple months I would intermittently loose the speedometer and odometer. Time between working and not would expand, till the last two weeks was pretty much nothing.
    I used Eurospares
    https://www.eurospares.co.uk/Parts/124146/Ferrari/New/65411
Took me a couple slow hours, could probably do it in 30 minutes now for a second attempt after figuring the little nuances out. Definitely not too bad for DIY.

    Thanks!

I replaced the California mirror on my 1978 GTB. It took me 4 hours to remove the old one (original, wobbly one was changed in around 1983) and attach the replacement. As hard as I tried, I couldn't loosen the pivot screw on the new one. After a 3 hour struggle, I went went to the farm shop and locked it in a vise. Using 2 hands, I got the screwdriver to turn it. I guess I'm getting old, huh? Image Unavailable, Please Login
