Portofino M rear seat fold down feature

I need some help understanding the use case and value of this option. My dealer all but insisted I add this feature. I went along with the suggestion. Now after month's of ownership I ask myself ....why?

With the locking mechanism controlled in the luggage compartment, it is not useful for my girlfriend's purse or any easy access item. What is the thinking hear? It should lock via the fob like everything else...

How do you all use this? Somehow I totally miss the point, the storage is small, the "shelf it creates will not tolerate a set of golf clubs? Carry luggage fits better in the rear seat with the shelf folded up, not down????

I will concede that overall the PM has more space than my older Ferraris , perhaps I just do not get it.
