Here. Not the o’ring. The bushing https://www.shapeways.com/product/ZKSE2ZDQR/ferrari-qv-cis-bushing?productConfiguration=243556342&etId=201123801&utm_source=automated-contact&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=order-shipped&utm_content=2
Im just looking for the o rings. I imagine a local auto parts store will have them in their selection of fuel injection o rings but figured Ide check here.
Ordered a pack of 50 McMaster for $9. I only need 8, so if anyone needs some, let me know! Send address and cover shipping.
Not to offer unsolicited advice, but if I was this far into it I would probably replace the "union" pictured below (red arrow). Ricambi has them - part number 106241. My old 328 had a leak there (the old nipple had corroded away to almost nothing) and it was pretty inconvenient to pull the plenum to replace it. Then again, if you're not draining the coolant at this time, it might not be worth the effort. These cars are notorious for "while you're in there" scope creep. Keep up the great work! This was literally my next question. Thank You!!! I saw that fitting w/ no Hex on it, Corroded to almost nothing and having signs of seepage, and said "Oh no". I soaked it with Kriol, heated the **** out of the aluminum and took it out with a vice grip no sweat at all. Surely there has to be a nice brass one with a hex at the base available. Thanks again. Read my mind.
Any issue with this BOSCH kit? Seems like a lot of stuff is generic for the 308 / 328 but not necessarily for the 87 328 GTS. (Found this out the hard way with valve shims) Image Unavailable, Please Login
I just keep getting deeper and deeper here. Got some much needed cleaning done, rear valve cover removed for valve clearance check. All new hoses are ready to be installed all around. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Some more cleaning and digging into. Valve covers being stripped of the old wrinkle finish, fuel sender installed, valve clearances checked. Please take a look at the valve clearances and let me know what you think / suggest. My main concern is that the ones that are close (0.26 or 0.36) would be on the tight side if I added a +0.05 to the existing valve shim size. Superperformance only sells the shims in 0.05 increments. I don’t feel like spending $650 for a set of shims I don’t need and will never used. So, as the valve clearance will tighten over time, what is the recommended thing to do here? Leave them a bit lose? Or find somewhere to buy individual shims in more precise increments to get the clearances more in the middle of the tolerances? Thanks for all the help!!! Little before and after of the left tank. Filled with acetone and boiling water, twice. Agitated the mixture with compressed air through a vacuum hose with a wire hanger in it to keep it stiff. Worked it all around. Repeated this with Lacquer thinner and boiling water. Flushed it thoroughly 100 times with a hose flowing in and out of every port I could. Finally, using an air hammer and piece of wood, vibrated the tanks, and flushed once more. Let dry, then hooked a vacuum to the outlet, and compressed air on top to get anything else out. I think it came out pretty good. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Changed out both check valves for the air injection. New cut off valve on the way, all new hoses etc. The previous owner had no cut off valve and everything just plugged up with bolts and stuff. Also got the FP set up in and filter. New shims going in the valves now. Rebuilding the fuel distributor. Last piece of the fuel system! (Also the WUR) dug into the CV joints and that is going well also. One side had some pitting in the races, so I ordered a new one. new water pump, cleaned up the stat housing, new gaskets, new hardware. Both outer cv joints were pitted. Both were replaced. Used a baby syringe to extract and inject the grease into the joints. Worked great. Fuel distribution unit and WUR out for calibration. Getting there!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Same as Porsche 930 Turbo cv joint https://eeuroparts.com/product/gkn-loebro/302303?srsltid=AfmBOoqgb5xifd5ynpvQCnqq1SKEMvmCeOisECwVigXg1zgNOFKuJ0Jk5YQ
Correct. But you have to trim the lip on the boot. There is a bead on the inside "Big" End that needs to be cut off. Easy to do with a brand new razor.
Yes, there are many to change here. Do not gamble with hot exhaust shimmed getting hotter, this is not good. Why do you only buy parts from Superformance, there are other sets but even Ferrari can sell one shim only. You need to change these as you are here and remember that the ones you remove could still be used in other places. Please do not ignore this work
Couple more things. Valve covers back on, alternator rebuilt with new slip ring, capacitor, regulator, bearings, cleaned up and painted the center correct orange color. Basic overall degrease and cleaning. 100's of hours. Its amazing how dirty this car was. 1/2" of caked on oil / grease / thick gunk on everything. I use brake cleaner and a brush in a oil drain pan. Super clean and NAPA Aluminum brightener on certain things like the valve covers, intake valley, etc. Cast aluminum likes it. Smooth, not so much. In summation, its hours and hours of cleaning and elbow grease. Once everything is clean i coat everything in Groits trim spray and brush it on light coat, with a paint brush.
