So I do believe this is "an issue". What has to happen is the entire experience of the 3 days is worthwhile to convince people to return. Also it would help if Max wasn't running away with everything. If there was better competition people would come out more. But the first year is going to a an experiment. They will learn -- and its possible the prices are too high. I know I was shocked but I'm also shocked at how much has been spent to put this thing on. I never figured all the stand construction on the Strip. Lots of $$$$.
I have been to a lot of F1 races all over the world since the 1970's. Never paid anything to attend. Team credentials, Paddock Club, Driver's / Sponsors / Owners passes. in the past few years the "magic" of being there has completely disappeared. TV is much better, without the silly commentators. I spent a lot of time in Vegas to gamble and play golf and watch boxing, but F1 in a parking lot was not so interesting. If you know anything about Vegas, you will know that if you are a successful plumber / businessman who knows how to bet, you will have priority. Nobody I knew would ever pay for a room / suite, food and beverage, transportation, or a show. The ticket price for the "experience" is beyond belief / comprehension. Have a great time!
Well...thurs-sat is f1 and everything happens after 6pm and food is included so...who is booking all the reservations? Vegas swallows big events like Sema. There is always stuff open and easy to get a meal. The problem is so many places to eat.
Bellagio stands nearly finished. Pretty nice seats! The one stands that have a long way to go are in front of the Mirage. All others really pretty much well along. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
My update today. Trying to do several a week until now and the event. Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date
Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date 3AM East Coast qualifying time?!? 1AM East Coast start time for race?!? Even in Europe they would be early morning start times (6AM in the UK for the race).
Wow! People in Las Vegas are from a different planet. Or at least these race organizers. Well, there's hope they'll fix that too in future years. It's almost like they are trying really hard to make this NOT a success: Ridiculous prices, package deals and now qualifying at midnight. What's next?
I'm not so worried about them: They are traveling all over the globe for these races, so they are on different schedules anyhow. Whether the GP is at midnight or at 8pm won't make a difference to them, they will go with a different schedule anyway. But it might matter to the audience. Just a thought. Then again I remember last time I was in Las Vegas maintaining my regular schedule I was alone in the city in the morning.
Got this email from the Peterson Museum. Apparently they are doing the Parade Lap with drivers. How many should I buy? Image Unavailable, Please Login
MGM sent out an email this week allowing package holders to make restaurant reservations at almost all MGM property venues. Was pretty much wide open even today. At least I won’t be stuck eating out of the food court for 3 straight days.
The amount of construction to put on this event is really unbelievable. I never would have imagined it would be such a large project. This is one of two new TEMPORARY bridges they built to shuffle people in and out of the paddock area. They are installing it in the next 2 weeks. Traffic around Koval and Harmon will be a complete mess for the next 2 weeks. Image Unavailable, Please Login
