I could have sold him my car, but I turned down his offer. In retrospect, I should have taken the quick sale and moved on, as I lost out on the car I won at auction.

Great point. More than likely the comments about the PPI were true. Any compression loss would lead to a partial miss and would be easily heard and felt at idle.

RF has always been, like you said, at the top of the market with pricing.

So, does that actually make this a $150k car ?

Feels like it, just not sure.

Yep. I'd say $140-150k. BUT, I'm not supposed to comment on pricing because I don't own one.

Yes, I'm just being cheeky because that is one of the "go to" comments I get when I chime in on values (Even when supported by multiple data points). I don't have skin in the game for this particular car, but I understand people that view these gems as investments over inflating their own profit margins.

The import hassle from the Netherlands didn't scare away bidders on their last one.

Guides done. Headers addressed (not sure which one). Capristo muffler. Engine out in 2022… This car is correctly priced higher than the recent BAT silver Berlinetta just off color alone :).

Your data has weak points because you more often than not use results from problematic cars, cars that aren’t even in the country, or cars that barely have any history as a data point.

Bring up your data again. I’m sure I can pick every single one of them apart just based off memory.

These are the highest results for a manual Berlinetta on BaT in 2023… most of which are within the last 6 months. These results are higher than Bat results in 2022 (supposedly peak car market). What downward trend in data do you have?

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1999-ferrari-f355-berlinetta-5/ $176k

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1996-ferrari-f355-berlinetta-7/ $250k

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1996-ferrari-f355-berlinetta-6/ $191k

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1996-ferrari-f355-berlinetta-5/ $210k

Numbers vary accordingly based on mileage and specs.

You can’t tell me these numbers aren’t higher than 2022 numbers.

What’s the price of an engine out service with valve guides done in 2023?

What’s the price of proper manifolds (ex. Tubi) or new OE manifolds?

What’s the price of a Capristo muffler?

What’s the price for getting stickies addressed?

You don’t have to own a car to know what it takes to get a car right, but it’s less likely you do if you don’t own one. Can I get an answer to these questions before claiming to be an expert on 355 prices?

I found a 1996 red/black 355 spider with 7k miles with recent major engine out, new tires, new clutch, fuel pump, engine mounts, stickies, automatic top service, etc done earlier this year ($30k in 2023). All original paint except refinish front bumper.

What is the current market value for this car in a private sale?

Provides a good starting point to research, but you should check around too. The low miles can be a plus or minus depending on what you are looking for. A fresh service from a reputable shop is nice to have, but some buyers prefer to coordinate their own work or have a specific shop they trust.

I have been feeling under the weather for the past 1-2 weeks. I felt a lil better on Friday, so I decided to send WOB another email for an opportunity to see the car. They replied the car is sold.

I'm not sure I believe it or not, but knowing dealers, they usually chase you around to come check out the car. I felt I was doing most of the chasing. My feeling is it wasn't in their best interest for me to see the car. Perhaps they read my comments here or my comments on BaT and sense I know too much about 355's. I would be difficult to fool.

My only interest in the car is checking out Bradan's paintwork and how it has held up a decade later and perhaps some insight into current mechanical condition as KenneyD expressed interest in the car. KenneyD would be the perfect person to buy a troubled car (for a discount of course) as he can fix the issues on his own.

The other thing I wanted to see is Wob's operation. Being L.A based and one of the premier sellers on BaT, I had kept them in the back of my mind if I was interested in selling a car on BaT. This experience did not instill confidence in me to sell a car through them. A bit too difficult to arrange a meeting to view the car. If I were selling a car (that was not problematic) I would want as many potential buyers viewing the car as possible before the auction ends.

Wob's black back drop gots to go as well :).

I see the problem with some of these BaT sellers is they lack intimacy with certain types of cars and have relegated themselves to a detailing and photoshoot operation. Apparently, that was not enough for the Rosso Fiorano GTS. If they cannot assure a car is mechanically sound, where is the real value-add?

Lulz... No, I am realistic about pricing. The both demonstrate how much the market has softened, but a RNM isn't really a fair comparison to a sale (even if it does give insight into what bidders are willing to spend). I know you prefer GTBs so I wouldn't dare offer a differing opinion.
