Now that I’m looking at it, I probably have the 3500 series. https://www.carsupplieswarehouse.com/products/quickjack-bl-3500slx?pr_prod_strat=use_description&pr_rec_id=3cae21ed9&pr_rec_pid=6616073535668&pr_ref_pid=6617705611444&pr_seq=uniform
If you can't get the under tray off what's the point? The only time I generally lift my car more than a couple of inches (to get the tires off) is to do an oil service. And frankly, by the time you get this all set up I bet I can lift the car with a jack and up it up in jack stands just as fast. I think something like a max jack with 4' lift makes more sense.
John. Look at my pics again. The small portion of the center undertray can come off, but not the larger center piece.
Reason I don't recall which unit I have is because I bought a slightly used one off Offerup for $800 at least 5 years ago. Just picked up whatever seemed reasonable at the time without being too picky about model type. @johnk... when are you gonna stop being cheap and pick one of these bad boys up? We need you to do a Quick Jack engine out write up .
When I do my engine out this is how I'll do it. An engine out is just another day in the market. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm still at work, so I haven't looked, but just trying to recall.... I don't have this length issue on what I believe is most likely a 3500 series now. I believe my front pucks are resting on the front jack points, while the rear puck is on the green area Dave Rocks highlighted. It still takes time setting it up the first time only because you want to be careful and make sure everything is where it needs to be before busting up an undertray.
Hehe friendly, 2 guard cats! 2 Quickjacks! Ahahah yeah I think you have the smallers, as you said it’s enough, distance between anchor points is possible with the 3500. I would like to lift the 993 with the same QuickJack, and why not a GLA 250e and G63 AMG... It's not easy to make the right choice with several cars. but to be honest, it’s not to make mechanical activities, it’s more for detailing…
I think most folks went to the 5000 because they were worried that most of the 3,300lbs weight was over the rear end of the Quickjack not evenly balanced. Also, the instruction manual says not to put full weight on the jack at close to the bottom of travel. The extra capacity of a 5000 may offset some of this risk.
yes very possible, on the other hand, Ken, it seems to me that you installed them backwards, the piston must point towards the heaviest part of the vehicle, towards the engine
Prices have almost doubled in recent times, the cost of steel and import fees must be the reason… 1600 euros for the 3500 2000 euros for the 5000 2200 euros for the 7000
I checked. I have 3500 lbs. I only have one quick jack. The other car is on jack stands. I’ve seen the direction done both ways regardless of where the engine is. It’s not practical for me to have car lift backwards due to limited garage space.
when you see what it is capable of lifting, the direction, all things considered, of the piston, it doesn't really make sense
I'm not sure it does make a difference with regards to lifting, but the weight is still centred at the rear. In the 360 picture, doesn't it look like the jack is more likely to tip over. Image Unavailable, Please Login The issue on the F355 with the 5000 and the ram pointing up to the front is that the front jacking point is too close to the wheel. The base basically hits the tyre. If you look at the 360 photo and imagine the jack lowered, it would come very close to the front wheel. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It’s true, could this unbalance the car during handling? what you say for 5000 it’s the same for 7000 and more, 7000 it is 2 cm longer… enough to be pissed off
