Didn't someone on here mention that the 499 moniker will be used for the SF90 successor? Or was that merely speculations. A 499P GTS would be silly as well in the form of the Le Mans car

I think Ferrari has finally wised up to convertibles and the money they can generate.

No TDF spider but now Comp Spider. Similarly with the SF90 XX Spider

Valkyrie also ended up making a spider so an ultra high performance, track oriented spider precedent has been set.

Honestly I think a convertible Le Mans car sounds pretty great haha

I've been reading Autocar for over 30 years. In the past 12 months some of the things I've read have made me sick.

Then about 6-9 weeks ago they said something that was so stupid I walked. It's not Ferrari related so I won't disclose any names. But I no longer care what they say based on that.

I know some people in Mclaren Circles. It's a V8 according to them. Not electric.

I know. This will be the last I say, two weeks roughly I went into the Town Centre, in thr United Kingdom we have a store called WH Smiths where they sell just about every Car Magazine you can think of.

Same one for decades. Anyway on the front cover was a Porsche and a Ferrari. Forgive I can't remember the models. So I opened the pages to see which one had been tested right? Usual 8 pages circa.

Well they tested neither! It was some SUV or whatever and I'm thinking you had both the bloody cars! Nevermind.

Are you hinting about a street legal 499P? I really think that « 499 » will be used for the SF90 M or SF90 Phase 2.

Under the original WEC rules they had to create and produce a production version of the 499P. Ferrari is said to have been well into development of this when the rules were then changed. This is a great way to recoup that lost investment and make some extra $$$ while bring more attention, interest and sponsorship to there WEC campaign.

while the story was poor, there has been lots of talk of the basic ideas they tried to put their own spin on.

can't remember have there been any photos with wing down?
I guess because of all extra cladding hiding the shape it can't be folded down.

Nope. wing has always been up. I think showing it down won't happen on a mute.

The car is inspired by the aero tunnel and the mechanicals it has to encapsulate. At any rate, this is not its final shape.

    Indeed,
I still don’t know why some people are stating this is the final shape..

I'm impressed by it. Didn't even know Ferrari made one I was mainly aware of the Porsche 917K. Only thing I don't care for is the obvious V6 TT. Seems like they just copied AMG, Ford, etc with the turbo V6 layout. I'm sure it will be something to see but not what to expect from the top tier that has to replace the Laferrari.

So you don't know much about Ferrari's history (they have won F1 titles with a V6 engine) and also don't understand that they always follow the F1 trend when it comes to their halo cars. Yet you denigrate the firm. Interesting...

You are correct. I'm not a Ferrari die hard, I'm not really loyalty to one company or any company in that way. Ferrari didn't appeal to me until the F12 Berlinetta appeared. So correct, I didn't and still don't delve deep into Ferrari's racing history like many. Enzo's life is what I was mainly interested in. I got into supercar/hypercar era back in 2006/2007, which in my option is the greatest of them all. Carrera GT, SLR, Zonda F, Enzo, MC12 and maybe Koenigsegg CCX. Before this I was into Japanese cars Skyline GT-R so I missed a lot of what happened, even though I watched from time to time Michael and Fernando Alonzo back in the V10 era glory days.

A car winning F1 based on an engine doesn't have much importance to me, I'm not an F1 driver :D Out of every supercar manufacturer, Ferrari is the most well known and respected for a V12 layout, even or Lamborghini which I think we'd all agree. Just for me, you go from a V12 N/A to a V6. From a car that looks like a Laferrari, a head turner, that's approaching 15 years old soon. 6.3L V12 to more than likely a 1.6L-3.9L turbo V6 is just wrong to me no matter how you put it and I'm sticking to it.

Ultimately and lastly, I don't have to like everything they do :D:D;). Some people probably wanted them to keep putting TTV8 in their halo cars like the F40 since it was Enzos last car. We all won't get our way :D

Not liking a decision is understandable and respected, but one needs to have a grasp of history in order to understand why some decisions are being made. That applies to decision from foreign policy, to car making. At the end of the day, what matters is how the car performs and feels. Since all top tier Ferrari race cars (F1, Le Mans-WEC, GT3) are powered by a V6, it is only logical that the new hypercar will have such an engine too. There is no doubt that it will deliver the numbers. Now, would I prefer a N/A V12? Of course. But that's not for me to decide and the very clever people who design these cars know a lot more about cars than I do...
