Max is making the car amazing. Perez not so much. Lewis and Rosberg had an amazing car due to the points spread percentage between the two.
Please... The RB19 is clearly the class of the field. Max is having a magical year and is clearly the best driver right now. Perez started this season in fine form...and then something happened to him. I have no idea what, but he was clearly close to Max, speed wise, early in the season, and now he just seems lost. What does this have to do with Hamilton?
Max is the best driver in the best car. Would others have won the title with it? Clearly. The Ferrari duo, the Mclaren and Mercedes duo, Alonso would've won the title in this car too. In such dominating fashion? I highly question that. Max right now is utterly faultless, but has won races where the car wasn't the fastest or a myriad of circumstances that many drivers would've lost it under pressure (Monaco clearly, Silverstone, possibly Zandvoort, Qatar). There's a reason why he's not for sale. Not just his speed but his reliability, consistency are incredible assets. There are drivers out there that can match him for speed on their day. But that consistent? That driver is not out there right now.
Max puts it all together. Right now there is no other driver to touch him. Unless Red Bull's advantage fades away in 2024, I can see him taking a 4th title.
They way Perez dropped off this season was indeed shocking. I was watching his early races with Redbull, till this year. He seem to be have complete control and confidence in the cars. Something must have happened this year to him. I suspect it's a combination of few things: pressure, mental roadblocks, simple mistakes, overdriving, and also perhaps to a certain degree, the development of the car going away from him.
Do you think Perez is equal to Rosberg, talent wise? Based on your pronouncements about 2014/15/16, I appreciate you can't really answer the above question or your entire theory gets blown up. Sucks, huh...
I agree. It is strange how Perez just fell off the map. The first quarter+ of this season, Perez was within 6 points of taking the WDC points LEAD from Max. And then....
I think the development of the car than came first, undermining his confidence, leading to a drop of performance, not helped by the lack of support. Perez is now increadingly isolated at Red Bull.
I don't think it's even that...if we look at the season and the reason for his piss poor results they've almost all come through unforced and rather pointless errors (Monaco Q1 1st lap stands out in that one) or changing weather conditions where Max simply got the best out of the car immediately vs Perez who was more conservative in his initial approach and missed the window. He needed to do recovery drives every single time. Has the car evolved since then, absolutely. I don't think it's specifically developed to Max's needs, just what Newey and his giant brain thinks its fastest and Max adapts to it.
Max wants to buy Michael's F2004 https://www.planetf1.com/news/max-verstappen-invites-ferrari-to-call-him-special-request
I hope he gets it. He would properly drive it I'm sure. Obviously far faster than anyone in the F1 Clienti program. I think when those cars went on sale in 2006 they were around $3 million. I suspect now one would go well over $10 million. Maybe $20 million since people are buying Jaguars and Ferrari GTO's for over $50 mil.
I would say 15 million is in the right ballpark. Would be so cool if he does manage to get one; we'd get some footage too I'm sure.
Max needs to steer clear of Ferrari....they got issues on top of issues. Even in a recent interview, LdM said Ferrari F1 is in a sad state of affairs.
The only way for Max to get Ferrari winning again is going the Schumacher route I think, move all key personnel from RB to Ferrari. Basicly give the Red Bull team a red shirt. And also important, like di Montezemolo shield the team from above. Otherwise Italian politics will c*ck it all up again Imo.
I'd genuinely love to see it happen. Certainly not impossible but a tough mountain to climb for sure. He's made no secret of a love for Ferrari in the last couple of years..owns quite a few now (SF90, 488 Pista, Monza SP2 and I believe an F8 as well), 296 GT3...he wants an F2004 and now this. Would be really cool especially if he can bring Ferrari a title or 2.
And that makes F1 so boring to watch. First it was the Mercedes run and now the Red Bull run. Not enough competition for me. And I still watch Ferrari every race hoping for some competitive runs. Sadly, it has not happened.
I thought an E-type sold for something crazy. I don't know, I don't follow the auction scene. I just know collectors pay ungodly amounts for some of these cars and the barrett jackson scene has drove up the price of classic cars so much it's insane.
Doubtful a '40s/'50s XK or an E-Type. While some of those have sold for upwards of $250,000, they are the exception, not the rule. The Cs and Ds are the ones that bring the big money, particularly the D, and its road version, the XKSS. Only 16 were made of the SS.
A 1961 Jaguar E-type roadster just sold for over a million USD. (Sept. 6, 2023). A 1955 D-type sold for $21 million USD in 2020 at auction as well. A 1957 Jaguar XKSS sold for $13 million USD. Fyi.
