Here is the FourWheel Trader analysis on the MC20, one of the faster depreciating cars.

I went by that dealer a month ago. Now I know why they have such a big selection:p.

I like the looks of the new GT. Wait for 5 years and they will be $50,000.00 or less used low mile!

These can easily hit $100k in options, so that likely is dictating the price.

Can’t argue these will not hold their value. I have no doubt I will lose money when I sell. But love the design and this car has gotten more attention than my past 5 Ferraris. (Not my intention but shows you how many people love the car ). But should be priced closer to 200k than 300k

All high end luxury cars tank in that video. These are toys, not investments.

Yes but it's not like it's out there alone. Look at Taycans.
However, if it doesn't become more popular than it is now I'm not sure what Maserati is going to do.
Their new smaller SUV isn't selling either.
I think Maserati has a pricing problem.

  12. I think Maserati has an image problem.

Even new MC20's are not moving off the lot.

Let's see how the Cielo does, but the coupes are sort of dead weight at MSRP.

    Who is buying these?

Surely not someone who likes exotics. You can get a McLaren or Aventador or 488 for around that as a toy car.

As a daily, who will pay 992 Turbo money for a Maserati?

Maserati needs to slash its prices by a good 40%.

That's the wrong comparison, they are very different cars. A 911 is not a luxury and comfort car. Why not compare some Bentleys or Aston Martins. Other examples with fantastic resale value ...

Those are also way better than the Maserati. Even an Aston which I also consider to be old by now. Bentleys at least are sturdy, well made if not fun to drive.

I'm just curious to see who is spending 230k on these cars. At 140k, they would be good value.

No one. And I agree. I have owned 2 GTs both used well under 100k. This car will be never sell at this price point.

It really doesn’t matter what the price point is, it really comes down to the monthly lease payment. Cars in this segment are not purchased, they are leased. They’re 3 year throwaways, to be replaced by the next one.

That is sad in so many ways.

According to the person I spoke to at my dealership, they have only sold (or leased) 2….there is at least 5 sitting on the lot and have been there for at least a month now

Well there's no doubt that the Bentleys have a much higher level interior so I guess Maserati is going to be taking a substantial haircut on the GT cars.
But with all the praise heaped upon the MC20 by people who should know I'm surprised that they haven't sold better. Is it just in the USA?

Bc it doesn't have the cachet of a 250k let alone 300k car. Nor does it have the pedigree anymore. Or the noblesse of a NA v8. It's a cute toy. Love them but I'd walk away with a used 720s or 458 or gt3 touring 10 times out of 10 at thar range.

Those are all 2 passenger mid or rear engine cars. None can carry 4 people.
When was the last time that you think Maserati had the cache or pedigree?

  23. Maserati never recovered from the Biturbo, introduced in the mid 1980s.

And I really don't think it ever will.

I thought we were talking about the mc20.

Maserati hasn't been on the same level as porsche, Aston and Ferrari since the Bora I would say. The 3200GT and Mc12 were amazing but Maserati just blew whatever credit it earned back by being lazy afterwards. The GranTurismo was good but the Ghibli and current 4p were just blah. Not as good as the German and not beautiful that you would overlook that.

To me they will always play 3rd place in that hierarchy. But now they lost another one of their main appeal which was the sound. Yet they are pricing themselves as if they were on the same level as McLaren, Aston, Bentley etc when they are just one notch above Alfa imo.

Yes that was a big low. I thought under Montezemolo, with the 3200gt and Mc12 and the 4p, they were on the way back up but that was short lived.

Cars weren't perfect, but they had the wow factor. So you could say yes my navigation sucks and the buttons are sticky but look at it and listen to it.
Or even drive it. The 2005 4p was a go kart.
