I thought it would take another 5 years, but it got here quicker than I thought. Manually converted cars are starting to sell for less than they would if left a F1. So double whammy not only the expense to convert, but then you are left with less than you had before.

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2005-ferrari-612-scaglietti-25/

This hasn't happened to most of the conversion market yet, but that's where it is headed. The reason for my original opinion were...
    1. Modified Ferraris always eventually end up less than what you started with whether performance or body mods. Usually wheels and exhaust are the only thing you can do without negative impact.
    2. The manual craze would peak.
    3. The utopian dream of a manual on Ferraris that Ferrari themselves were starting to step away from didn't always work out between factory parts availability, aftermarket parts R&D, and "teething" issues. Can anyone say the performance of a manual conversion on a 599, 612, or even 430 is up to what we were use to with factory manuals from older models? The 6-speed on my 355 is perfect.
    4. As more and more Ferraris are converted, the supply goes up and demand stays the same or even goes down.

I owned F430s both in factory original manual and F1. I had more fun in the F1.

    I did too.

Look at the price of Daytona Spider, Daytona Coupe and Daytona cut Spider.

Modifying a Ferrari is never a wise economical move.

Sold my F430 primarily because I disliked the F1 and did lots of around town driving. It was not fun and engaging around town. I would certainly pay more for a converted F430. I am sure one day I will look back and wish I converted the one I had! It was a beauty. Enjoying 488 Spider with the dual clutch all over town for now!

Obsessed with my Ferrari 488 Spider!

    I've said it 200 times

The factory manual 599 sucks. It sucks.

Also 430 stick doesn't suck... But it certainly drives like an afterthought

4 normal Scags on BaT in the last month:

    6-spd conversion, 32,000 mi, $72,500
    F1, 9,000 mi, $70,000
    F1, 29,000 mi, $70,000
    F1, 15,000 mi, $72,000

The conversion had the most miles but received the highest bidding (by a hair). I'll be interested to see how people view these conversions in a few decades (and if owners convert them back), but for now I don't conclude what you're concluding from this one result. IMO well-done conversions with factory parts will continue to outvalue their untouched F1 counterparts for a while yet, but of course as factory manual parts disappear (as you said) and people become more limited to possibly-dubious third-party solutions, and as more people take shortcuts to convert cars cynically just for a flip with a higher margin, I do think the doubt on these cars could increase in the future.

"As factory parts disappear"? They are long gone. 599 stick parts have been gone since about the 4th conversion. I have a 430 here that was done a few years ago and it is a combination of OE salvage parts and fabricated parts. How many spare parts do you think Ferrari made for cars that barely sold?

Why? In detail. I had a client with an original 599 manual so I have a fair bit of experience driving one.

I've heard that many times over the years. Baseball pitcher CJ Wilson had one. It may be a myth though.

It just doesn't feel developed or it feels rushed. In my opinion you can tell they developed the car as an f1 but then also offered a 6 speed option. Does that make sense?

It's all qualitative it's all feeling and height and clunky or not smooth or needing extra attention. The car just doesn't feel as though it was how they developed it. It doesn't feel like a 550 where pedals are tight.. m steering wheel is right... Shifter is right... It just feels a little off and wonky. It doesn't seem as smooth as a 550. It all feels like an afterthought.

I know I'm repeating myself. I'm just trying to find a way to convey it.

the factory manual 612's aren't stratosphere like 599's and even some 430's.

Conversions are stupid and BAT is a stupid platform to even follow.

I disagree with the BAT part, there is some good market data there. Have to filter through the specifics of the cars and games the dealers play.

Clear as mud considering you hate it so much. With such antipathy I expected some specifics. Like I said, I have driven one quite a bit, on a number of different occasions. Liked the car.

I'm not exactly sure what you are expecting me to say.

    You liked it.

    I didn't.

I feel it doesn't drive well and it doesn't feel finished or like a polished product. You do.

I don't think the shift well. They seem like an after thought from placement of shifters and integration of the shifter box in the interior to how the throttle almost seems delayed as it almost seems as though it is looking for input or communication from an f1system to make sure everything is kosher before it lets the car have more power.

The 550 and 360 feel natural in a manual. The 430 and the 599 don't feel natural as a manual.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was much less time on developing engine software mapping of the manuals of the 430 and the 599 than the 550 and the 355/360.

Maybe I'm dreaming, but did someone ever mention a mod or fix to the 599 manuals that made it more tolerable?

I wouldn't be surprised if someone made some software tuning that made it better but with so few ever built ... It obviously wouldn't exactly be a commerical success.

But I feel a lot of it was in software tuning. But also just the shifter box and the gate in the 599 seemed odd or out of place. But that's personal preference and obviously depends on big of a person you are etc.
