I will be watching events. Living in Upland (San Antonio area) it is the drive there (during), and afterward that puts a few of the events out of contention. We'll be at the San Marino show. Not to be judged this year. Just enjoying other people's cars.
"That 308 was a great car and unfortunately no longer part of my stable." Whom did you sell it to? I am interested in getting it back. Yeah, I miss that car immensely.
Great to read some of this car's history and agree that driving these 3x8's often is a rewardingly deserved patina for them and the custodians. I owned a Giallo/Crema 308 QV GTS that had General Motors" as the first owner. Seems the US manufacturers were very interested in the Italian Stallions lol
Since she was my daily driver and my only car: I made sure the engine and transmission were always in excellent shape and I did oil changes frequently at Classic Coach due to the miles the car was hitting per month, the high miles and (when my timing wasn't right) hitting the NJ Turnpike or other highways at the wrong time and having stop & go traffic into NYC from the Princeton, NJ area. I have to say, the car was so wonderful to own, and considering I put 70k+ miles on it, held up better than expected and was not outrageous to care for (cost wise). Did I have to deal with some people being jerks since they saw at late-20 something driving it everyday, yeah. Did I have to worry about where to park and possible attempts of break-in or keying the car, yeah. (I got really good at finding 'hiding in plain sight' parking spaces) Did I care? No. - Every day when work was good, turning that key and hearing the car's exhaust note made me smile.... it was a day punctuated with beautiful exclamation mark. - Every day when work was awful, turning that key and hearing the car's exhaust note made me smile....because it was worth it to have many of the things and benefits I could now afford and enjoy. I worked in the fledgling cybersecurity industry back then on Wall St and Madison Ave mainly... (funny how 20 years later, got back into it but doing it remotely is a plus!) It's all about how you look at things in life. Anyone who is on a forum like this, whether they own or have owned one of these vehicles, needs to come to the realization that we have all done exceptionally well. Hopefully, 53753 will be mine again one day. (I keep missing the opportunity to buy it.) *When* that opportunity arises, I won't sell her again. I'll pass 53753 on to my daughter.
