I had a 992 turbo S. This blows it away. Way more special. The Turbo is fast and boring. F8 it’s not really the same just because it’s they’re so expensive. The usability factor drops a lot. 488, to me, sucks. I’ve driven a bunch. I don’t like them at all.
Car was delivered to my dealer last Friday morning. Looking forward to picking it up this Monday. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Broke 500 miles. Wow guys. All I can say. Very quick. And I’m 765 jaded. 2nd gear pulls are nuts. Sounds incredible. Everything gets rapid 7000+ RPM. What a machine. I’m in love.
Another beautiful day another top down drive. 55 and sunny. Car stays warm in the cabin. Very comfortable in sport. Track not necessarily less comfortable just feels more firm but in no way jarring. Pretty spectacular. Steering gets very heavy in track mode. Not sure I love that. The engine sounds phenomenal. The pull feels very 458/458 speciale in nature. I'd suspect the 60-130 times are very similar to my speciale. Maybe just slightly ahead. Car sounds better than the Ferraris. I'm even more entrenched now in my thoughts that this is the ultimate daily super car. I wouldn't have an F8 over it. The sound is such a huge component that any improvement in performance the F8 offers is rendered meaningless. Plus the tech is night and day. It's really got everything you could want in that department. What a special car. I parked and took the 765 out immediately. 765 performance is another level. I did a 40 MPH in second gear pull on a straight bit of road in each car. Corvette hit 108 mph Mclaren hit 130 mph lol. The Corvette is a car that while driving it gives you a sense that it sacrifices performance for the sake of the driver enjoyment. Via engine sound, heated/ac seats, great stereo, comfortable seats, etc. The Mclaren feels like sitting inside a machine with the ethos of, you're going to get from A to B as quickly as possible, whether you like it or not (I do enjoy it). Very different. Both fantastic.
I’m very much enjoying my SR, though can’t wait to get a Z06, it seems truly next level. A friend has a Z06/Z07 and numerous Ferraris…he enjoys driving the Z06 better than his SF90 Spider. I’ll take a Z06 over any modern day Ferrari, especially a V6 twin-turbo hybrid. I’ll keep my Speciale and 991.2 GT3 manual…those two cars are for the ages…peak Ferrari and Porsche imo.
Nice combo for sure. Right now I feel like the 765/Z06 are ticking all boxes for me and I don’t need anything else. I have a 296 on order……ugh. Maybe I’ll flip it which is something I never do.
Finally picked mine up today. The dealership did everything they could to get the car to me ASAP and I'm grateful to have it within ten days of discovering the engine had to be dropped for the repair. I'm not really qualified to offer much in the way of comparisons (I've never owned or driven a modern exotic) so I'll keep it extremely brief. The car is obviously fast, even under break-in protocols, but the sounds it makes are otherworldly. I can only imagine what it's going to be like after the 500 mile mark and I can ring out another 3k rpm's. The 70 miles I logged today were glorious.
It had a bad fuel pressure sensor from the factory. I happened to be at the dealership doing paperwork when the car was delivered, so I watched the driver unload three z06's - the only cars on the truck. Mine was last and the driver struggled to get it off. He told me he had driven a lot of z's and that something was defiantly wrong with mine. Sounds like the dealership's getting me a car cover for my troubles. I appreciate it, but I never made a fuss about the delay - **** happens. I guess GM can afford it. On another note, one of the other two customers backed out of his car at the last minute (red HTC) and the dealer sold it at MSRP to the first person they called. The other car was a 70th anniversary white metallic zo7. The brake rotors were gigantic compared to the non-z07 cars.
Lucky person who got that call. The Z07 gets the carbon brakes. They’re the same if you spec them on non Z07 cars but they’re standard with the Z07 package. They’re very good.
Between carbon wheels and carbon brakes I'm expecting a minimal amount of dust lol. I had an M5 Comp with steel brakes. It was abysmal. All my cars now have carbon brakes (765, 812GTS, Z06, Cayenne TGT) and it does keep the wheels much cleaner.
Image Unavailable, Please Login Beautiful day to log some break-in miles. Edit: I try guys, I really do, but I'm completely incapable of taking a decent picture.
Image Unavailable, Please Login I'll have to figure out why these pictures are worse than usual, even by my standards. Loving the car.
Have you driven a 296 yet? The pull is unreal. It’ll push you back in the seat like a Tesla Plaid. It doesn’t sound as good as the Z06, but it actually isn’t too bad in the cabin. It sounds pretty lame from outside, though.
