So I need two struts for the engine bay lid. Scuderia auto parts has a pair for around $155 including tax , shipping etc. Ferr part # 65796000 or 65855000

This seems like a pretty generic part. Anyone replaced with an aftermarket unit?

I did a search here, Didn't find anything.

Can you see any part numbers on your existing ones? Google those part numbers.

Ferrari didn’t make them, or have them made special for their cars.

You should be able to find them for $20ish each.

I needed a couple of other parts, so I ordered them from Eurospares. $45 each. Took 4 days to ship from UK. Unreal. I thought it would take a couple of weeks minimum.

Stabilus-lift-o-mat 4163 NU manufacturer and part number. Of course not ferrari generated part. Looks to be German.

But best to take one off and look at number before trusting me only.

Very easy to replace. They literally snap on and off quite easily with two people.

I always just use SGS struts when I need one. They're good.

    Snap on and off?!

    OK, I’ll publicly admit I’m an idiot…

Needed to replace mine, ordered genuine Ferrari parts and then got my wrenches out and… Dang! Those nuts are ON THERE!!!

After nearly rounding one off, I gave up… when I took my F430 in for annual maintenance I left the new ones in the front seat to have the dealership put them on.

So if anybody’s got a video of this, I’d be interested to see how it’s really done! :)

If it’s like the 360 you shouldn’t need to take any bolt off. From memory there’s a little circlip that goes around and through the ball joint end of the stut. Just encourage that off with a small flathead screwdriver and the ball joint can easily be popped off by hand.

Daaaaaang! That makes sense - I was just too quick to grab my (rarely used) metric wrenches. :)

Yeah. Step son used small regular screwdriver as needed to release old ones. New popped right on. Need one person to hold engine lid.

After seeing the eye watering prices Ferrari charges for the struts, I replaced mine with the ones from

    https://www.liftsupportsdepot.com/

They look and feel like the OEM, my engine bay lid now goes up as soon as I go past the horizontal point .
40 bucks shipped for the pair.

EDIT: sorry, that was for the trunk, the engine bay were cheap enough at Eurospares uk, so I got OEM"s there.

MA - when you do this, please post up a pic or video of how you detach/re-attach them - I'd love to see that! :)

Wanted to bump this. I noticed my right hand side engine lid strut gave up the ghost and leaked out fluid. I see several references to varied websites in this thread, but nobody has posted up part numbers and those sites don't list the F430 when searching by vehicle. Does anybody have a part number for reference and maybe up to date review?

Side note, has anybody ponied up for the carbon ones found here with a lifetime warranty? https://exoticcarbonfiber.com/product/ferrari-430-carbon-fiber-hatch-support-struts/

Yes, as was referenced above. However, there is no link or product number for which one we should order.

I just checked again and noticed they were only $50 a piece. I swear last time I looked they were over $100 each.
